Hi, I'm not really sure where to post this as I'm new here, but would someone be able to give me some figures for pro cyclers, like how long it should take to cycle 10 miles fast, and just some information on pro-cycling..

Many thanks

Hi,

I'm 14 and live in (a very hilly area of) Hampshire. I hope to start cycling when I get my first road bike in the coming months, so I will need help from the members of this forum to choose a bike and all the rest. The longest ride I have ever done is about 6 miles but on some very steep hills. Hopefully I can gradually improve with the help of the knowledgable cyclists on this site.

My inspiration to get on a bike is the success of the Team GB cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics, especially in the track events.

Great stuff - welcome Matt - there are plenty of people here who'll be more than willing to help, so any questions, just ask.

HELP NEEDED...
Hi Shaun and fellow cyclists (well I can dream!).
I'm scared, fat, unfit, rising blood pressure and in need of help.
I need to find a club or group with which to cycle who can cope with someone who currently struggles at 10 miles. I used to cope with London to Brighton and London to Cambridge rides (and return) when I was in my youth but the usual pressures of working life overtook me. Well I'm retired now and both need and want to get back in the saddle.
I live in Brentwood in Essex so any club or group around that part of Essex would be fine.
Can anyone signpost me the way please - I've tried the internet but they all seem very threatening to me.
Kind regards,
Martin

Hello there everyone, I'm Ben.
Just joined the forum (seems lovely and friendly!)
I live in Wanstead which is on the central line to fellow Londoners. For everyone else, it's classed as East London but really not far from Essex at all. It has good links to central london sorry...... thought I was on Rightmove for a minute!
Just purchased a Nordic 4.1 indoor bike. Want to get the full kit, shorts/tshirt/water bottle etc. Want to get fit. Need to get fit medically. If I go on another unsafe crash diet and not partake in proper exercise, partner is going to leave me. End of.
Looking for inspirational quotes and inspiring stories on here to help motivate.
Thanks for reading.

Afternoon,

I joined this forum as I've been looking to purchase my first road bike and needed some advice from people who know. I currently commute on a second hand £50 moutain bike but having been inspired by the Olympics, I'm looking to take my cycling further and join a local club and hopefully, start to compete in races and tt's.

I'm born and raised from Southampton.

Dane.

Hey Ben, Welcome. I live just down the road from you in Leytonstone.

Is there any particular reason why you got an indoor bike? If you work in Central London, Wanstead is an easy commute by bicycle.

You've also got a very good bike shop in Wanstead - Biketrax. I use them all the time.

Hi - I actually work in Woodford. Great bike commute but I take a lot of work home with me, couldn't carry it all.
Is Biketrax near wanstead station? I think I've been in there.
The trouble is, if you don't know what you're looking for, its hard to describe what you need.
Plus, I haven't ridden a bike or driven a car for many years. Bit anxious of going onto the roads, not knowing the rules etc.
I love the idea of the iFit you see.

Hi, I am a new here, I am from central North Carolina, born and raised. I am in my early 50s...will be 55 in a couple of months so I still get to use the early 50's until then. I have been into bicycling about a year but I took this past winter off, I will not be doing that again, because of all the pain involved in getting back into any sort of riding shape. I am hoping someday to get a chance to visit and cycle in the UK. I have already found some great information on touring at your site and enjoy the reading.
