Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello all from Chester. Been a mountain biker most of my life. Starting to think about getting a road bike now, won't be giving up the rough stuff though. Do a lot lot of commuting on the bike as well. Found this place whilst looking for ideas for road bikes. Seems like a good forum. ;)

Hey from Sunny Heywood.
Looking to maybe start some gentle off road cycling. I am on a tight budget (like most i expect). Does anyone know of some cycle routes in or around Heywood, also best place to buy Bike and suitable ( or best) clothing to wear! Any help or advice would be great. Thanks, Gaz.

Hello All, my name is almac68, usually spending far too much time on the LFGSS forum and organising cycling trips to Belgium and Italy

As a lifelong fan of the Yorkshire dales and cycling, I have been seriously contemplating a move away from my native London to start a new venture in North Lancashire / North Yorkshire..

Since 2003, I have been involved in competition from triathlons, time trials and road racing in London and the home counties. More often now just organising tours to Europe, helping out at local club runs and marshalling races. As well as being part of the Olympics legacy for 2012 which is about to unfold next Saturday.

Clitheroe seems like a natural place to be as I often stayed in Gisburn with family. It is hoped that my venture would include a licensed premises, screening of all bike racing broadcasted on Eurosport, a base if required for local cycling clubs and a short order kitchen service providing sustenance for hungry cyclists. This would be basic to begin with, but eventually turn out themed dishes across the racing season from the spring classics, grand tours and worlds. Plus I would provide a basic workshop for running repairs and carry a few essential items and support the local road cycling, MTBers and cyclo-cross scene all year run.

Actually this venture could be anywhere within striking distance of the dales, frankly like Barnoldswick, Harrogate, Ripon, Richmond. But I would like to know whether this is something that would be of interest to you as a club and would appreciate any feedback you can offer.

The search for the right location is critical and will continue for another 12 months.

Hi I've just joined the forum which looks like a friendly and useful place. I've been dabbling at cycling for about 20 years mainly on a old Falcon hybrid. Two years ago I bought a Trek 6000 mountain bike and wow what a difference! I don't go that far 8-12 miles at the moment mainly around Wetherby and Harewood lanes and bridle ways. This week at the age of 59 I'm getting my first road bike a Giant Defy 4. We are moving to France in September and the local roads are beautifully surfaced and quiet ideal for the new bike. I'll post on how I get on with the new bike. A friend has said I'll probably feel sick on it for a while which I don't quite understand!

Hello! I'm new to CC, signed-up just today  I'm from Grays in Essex, well.. in fact I'm from Cracow in Poland but live in Grays ;) I ride Carrera TDF, started few days ago and this is my first serious cycling season since.. ten years. My top achievement in this season (so far): 45 kilometres (approx. 28 miles) without stopping. My top plan for this season: one-day trip to Little Walsingham in Norfolk (almost 200 km). My top plan for next season: trip to Poland (over 1500 km). I know - I'm crazy ;)

Hello All,
Got the bike bug this year after getting my new road bike on the cycle scheme, have been riding for a couple of years to and from work on a mountain bike, which was hard work ( 20 miles / day ) but the new bike has given me that extra buzz. Would like to do more now than ride to work.
cheers,
Mike.
