Evening all from sunny Bristol.

I have recently started cycling to work 5 days a week (about 18 miles a day). Currently on a Raleigh Attitude mountain bike with some road tyres so not ideal but I am looking to upgrade to the Boardman Hybrid Comp if my funds will stretch that far.

Hello,

just joined today from Melbourne AU.
Trying to ride to work as often as possible but the lovely Melbourne winter does make it hard at times.

Cheers

Hello, I have just joined this chatting place because I have very recently started cycling. I live in wiltshire but holland looks a very inviting place to live when I'm out on my bike! I have joined this place to learn.

Hello All,

Im Will from not so sunny Cornwall. I cycle everyday in all weather to and fro work which is only about 10 miles round trip but contains some challenging hills. I often go out on Big rides my recent being from St Austell to Bristol ( 210 miles ) for my local childrens hospice Charity. I own 2 bikes, One being a Claud Butler Tourer...my work horse and my shiny new purchase..a Raleigh Airlite 100 sprinter.

Hello all. Thought it was about time I join up. I have recently got back into cycling after a long break. I wasn't sure which type of bike to go for so I decided to go for a MTB thinking that it would enable me to use both road and track. As usual i made the wrong choice - should have bought a road bike as I seem to have more of an infinity with the road. So I have been managing somewhere between 90-130miles a week on the trusty MTB, I am sure that's nothing for you guys but for me that's almost a miracle. I live in Pendle Lancashire, so there are lots of hills as well, in fact I like hills. I think I have decided to get a road bike now? So anyway nice to 'meet' you all and happy cycling.

Hello all, have lurked and learned for a while, finally signed up for an account. Brief synopsis: overweight middle aged bloke, on the bike for less than a year but have lost nearly 40 pounds and changed my outlook on life through cycling. I commute 12 miles each way most days, and thinking about a longish tour next year to commemorate my 50th birthday, so definitely bitten by the bug. All I need now is improved fitness and technique...

Hello. I've taken riding up again this year to help improve my fitness. I'm interested in meeting people in my area (Oundle) to enjoy cycle rides with.
Thanks

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello Peeps,

i wanted to do the cycle work scheme decathlon near me have good bikes they are part of the scheme. The wife said no and for our anniversary bought me a flat pack mountain bike for £80.00, to be far i was pleased as did not expect it. But have read some bad reviews on these types of bikes i put it together was easy. I know if i buy separate parts and new parts i can maintain it well i suppose even getting it service in a bike shop will make it last longer any feedback most welcome.

Get yourself some decent tools, other than that everything you need to know about bike maintainance is on the Internet. Failing that I am sure there is someone willing to help on the forum.

Hello all, I've been cycling for a few years now struggling along on an old BSO. Got a road bike last year and never looked back. I live in Ripon and didn't realise what a nice part of the country it was till I got out on the bike, far too many hills though.

I'm due to retire from the Army next year and will be treating myself to a decent bike to celebrate.

Mike
