Hope you don't mind me asking what do you think of your bike? I thought of buying my wife one she particularly likes the traditional style, although is a bit put off by the price as she will only ride it during the spring summer, she has looked at some cheaper copies but sometimes it's worth paying the extra and getting something original.

Nigel
Hi Nigel,

I did a lot of research before taking the plunge and buying my Pashley. It is a very good, well built bike. The quality in the product just shines through. However I did check out the Raleigh Classic Styles and the Dutchies but they were just missing the little tiny extras that the Pashley has.

Just little things like the Brooks leather sprung saddle, cream wheels, the little white poppy painted on the frame, the fact it has 'Poppy' in bold curvise writing on the frame and the solid chrome bike pump.

The optional extras are also very good. I bought the small front basket for £35 ish pounds and as well as being a well made basket it has a bracket underneath to support a heavy weight placed in it. Haven't seen many other manufacturers that use a bracket to brace the weight..

As for the 'ride'.... it is Very easy to ride, very smooth and nice and upright. It gets pretty speedy I can outdo my man's Mountain bike on it . It perhaps could be a little better when going over bumps but it is not terrible... I have seen a a saddle post that is compatable with the Pashley that is meant to act as a shock absorber for going over bumpy roads... costs £15 so I may do that... It is a heavy bike but I can lift it up a flight of stairs to my flat.
As you can tell I LOVE my bike. Definitely glad I went English built authentic Pashley!

Hello,

My name is Laura and I ride a Pashley Poppy in Blush pink. Shamelessly girly and kitsch but hey who cares!?

I live in Herts near the River Lee. Can't wait to cycle in the sun.

Hi Laura, :welcome:

Oh Hi! Very cool! I really wanted to get some spokey dokes for mine... but I thought that may have been over kill!

Thanks Laura I think you have convinced me, just need to convince my wife she's worth the money sure it won't take much doing.lol

Nigel

Nigel,
Your'e welcome.

Are you going to go Poppy, Princess, Tuberider and more importantly if you are going to purchase the Poppy which colour? I ended up getting mine from Halfords and I'd highly recommend them.

They got it to me within 7 days (not bad for a custom built bike) and assembled it, did all the configuring, gave me good advice about how to look after my Poppy and even threw in a set of lights worth £40 when I said I didn't want to spend that much on lights... 'safety first miss' Really happy with Halfords and Pashley as a whole.

Not really sure which model to go for I think i'll leave that to the wife, colour and style are a bit of a personal thing although I think Pink! As long as she's got the basket she'll be happy. I have seen 4-6 weeks delivery on some sites so Halfords were certainly quick. Lights wise i might suggest a set of oil lamps to remain in character:smile:

Many thanksx

Welcome jillywitchy. I just saw you posted something - all the new posts come up on the ''what's new'' option in the top banner. I think you have to be in a forum (choose the appropriate one from the top banner) to be able to start a new topic - and, though I don't remember exactly, you may have to have made a few posts on existing threads before you can start a new topic. There are a few things you can't do when you're new but you'll get set up in no time at all.
