For most of my commutes I still plan on using my hybrid. It does the job and I really don't care too much about it getting mucky etc. For nicer days (especially when I am working on Sundays when I can take a slightly longer route to work, then the Racelight could come out. It would also be used for the longer rides when the weather suits and I get a spare few hours.

That is exactly what I do, I use my Specialized Hardrock for the daily 28 mile round trip daily commute and if the weather is nice I'll take the roadbike out, which due to the poo weather at the moment is hanging up in the garage.

I paid £345 for my road bike with a tired looking GT aero alloy frame. Seems alot but considering it came built up with NOS Mavic SUP rims and NOS/part worn Dura Ace group set with brand new 9 speed cassette and chain, it was too good to miss. I bought a Iceni Reynolds 520 Steel frame as I prefer these and 1inch steerer Carbon forks for £200 all in, I basically ended up with a very good road bike for about £550. I'll have to get some decent pics of it up and my commuter hack.

All I need now is a Cyclocross bike for speedy wet commutes and that'll do nicely.

Yeah, it's a good call, good bike, good price, good dealer.

I think you will find it is the older Miller not the current rehabilitated drug user Miller. It is Billy Bilsland's son who runs the shop. His dad was a pro cyclist and raced with Robert Miller. It caught my eye when I was the shop and I had to ask where it had come from.

Yes indeed, Robert not David Millar and yes Millar gave it to Billy Bilsland as Billy was his mentor before he went to France (read the book you see, otherwise I'd not no ;))

Ah, it's out then. Haven't recieved my copy yet, what do you think of it? Do I look a plonker in the photos?

The article is helping to fund the bike!

Bah! Haven't got my copy yet. Mags - you do realise Cycle is a favourite water-closet read? I'll be looking at a picture of you.......with my pants down.......

If you're still reading and not retching, I've not forgotten about the other journo gig we discussed. I'll PM if anything comes of it.

Just imagine if a bloodbus bus driver happens to come across a copy of cycle in his/her canteen......:biggrin:

No worries about the other gig. Although it would help to cover the 'my wife has just found out how much I am about to spend on a bike and has gone on strike' fund!

(she hasn't really, honest!)
