At least you got the nightmare out of the way, you will now be able to enjoy a fantastic bike at a great price that people will look longingly at even though halfords are involved, my bike will never see another halfords for Mainetenance, but I love the bike!

I ended up with a recent display model yesterday that was totally unused after I reserved a Carrera Subway Limited Edition Hybrid that was supposed to be ready by 1pm yesterday and when I arrived at 1:30pm the mechanic had built the wrong model of bike. They were totally understaffed in the Ealing Halfords store just the manager who was pulling his hair out ("Can't you tell the difference between a red bike and black bike?" he's asks the mechanic) and the mechanic and falling behind with builds. They pulled it to bits and put it back together again. The only problems I've had was the rear dust cap on the tyre fell off somewhere on the way home (replaced it) and the front left brake calliper was slightly loose after the ride home so I fixed that. I may need to adjust the cable tension on the gears as the low range was iffy changing down climbing the hill here but that's no big deal.

Halfords have offered to pay the £30 which I spent on the new chain & labour. Also either a free bike service or £20. Theres NO way im ever taking my bike near a halfords again!! So will take the £20.

Is this a good deal or should I ask for more? I feel like I should ask for more??

Then ask - you have nothing to lose really.

Alternatively you could ask them for the £20 as well as some accessories (or they will probably offer you instore vouchers instead.)

Really, if the chain snapped so quickly then the bike wasn't fit for purpose and could have caused you serious injury which Halfords must be considering if they have any sense.
