Halfords sell some brilliant bikes, there's no need not to buy a bike from them at all.
The problem comes with the set up and/or service.
That's best left to a LBS.

You may be able to use this to negotiate some more freebies though..

But I guess a working bike would be all you want at the moment

Getting this tomorrow **HALFORDS**, is there anything I should be checking for to make sure its ok?
Check the forks are facing the right way.

While you're getting the chain sorted ask them to turn the forks the right way

Got It!!! £200 off / free accessories. Not a bad deal. Wow its taking abit of getting used to as im used to the hybrid. Breaks arent as responsive and harder to pull, but alot lighter and quicker. BIG ride tomorrow!

Enjoy. I would also recommend a trusted LBS once over. Better safe than sorry.

The chain breaking on your first ride is disappointing to say the least, but look on the bright side you've got an excellent bike at a good price and many many happy riding hours ahead of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't understand why Halfords is held responsible for the chain breaking.Surely that's down to a poorly manufactured chain? If the chain was misaligned enough to cause a breakage I would think it would have been very noisy and rattly from the moment it was ridden.

It was fitted with 2 joining links one for a 10 speed and the other for a 9 speed. The bike shop said it shouldn't have been set up like this. It was not noisey or rattling but thank you for your opinion.
