Proper cyclists!

Really pee'd off this evening. Missed cycling for a while for health reasons, ( bit of Osteoarthritis causing probs, and lack of get up and go), but recently been having a real go at getting out at least a few times a week, even if it's just round the village and back. ( And I'm really enjoying it!)

Theres a good cycle/ walking route round about, and thougt I'd have a nice leisurely ride, no fuss, when a few lycra clad all flashy bike riders came along. They were in a group so I slowed and pulled up so they could go past. Got some shouts along the lines of get off the road, get a proper bike, better off walking, go home & get a taxi, leave the road to the professionals, get off the road was said by a few of them. (I was riding properly, and safely at the time, not a really flashy bike, and its a ladies step through, as I have problems lifting my legs up and over.)

Didn't know you had to be all dolled and riding the best flashiest bike to be allowed on the road. Silly me, got all hot and bothered, cross and it really ruined my ride home.

I hope it's just a few who make nasty comments, I know most are genuinely nice people, but for not so confident, and newish riders like me, they can be really off putting.
Sory for posting a rant, and the spelling, fingers a bit stiff tonight!

What a bunch of terrible bastards.

Were they part of a club, or was it quite a small group?

Perhaps with some more info we could find out what club they are, and a strongly worded email to the club secretary should have them put in their place.

Sorry to hear that Wobbly. They obviously aren't cyclists, just boys on bikes. Probably find that one idiot started it and the rest succumbed to "peer pressure". Well I hope they felt well and truly ashamed of themselves when they thought about it later - that's if they had a brain between them!

What tossers!

Sadly, there are plenty of arrogant cyclists, just as there are arrogant drivers, and pedestrians and so on. There are also a fair number with limited social skills. Sounds like you met a bunch with a full house of personality disorders.

Keep riding, keep enjoying it, and remember, the sort of person who feels the need to shout stuff like that, even in jest, is probably a miserable git in the rest of their life.
