Don't let it ruin your rides, think of it this way, are you happy with the bike you ride and do you enjoy cycling at your own pace for your own pleasure. If you answer yes to those questions than the idiots with stupid brainless comments can do one( as my squaddie son would say).
I ride a secondhand Ridgeback Hybrid, few scratches but its what I could afford but I've also ridden a Home guard bicycle and a 1930's butchers bike so heard most the comments by now, just smile and enjoy the ride

Idiots.

Overcompensating because another cyclist had just scalped them on a BSO

Laugh at their stupidity , realize that in reality they all live at home and they cant get a girlfriend with such an arrogant demeanor.

Forget them .

I'm sorry you bumped into the "Tour de C*nts" obviously that was a break away group

Ignore them, ride what you like and at your own pace, if they have a problem with that .. "Tough"

"Leave the road to the professionals" .. I would have shouted ... "If you see any, point them out to me, so I know what one looks like"

Hi Wobbly Wheels,

Don't let these arrogant twats put you off riding your bike. As long as you enjoy getting out and riding, thats all that really matters.

I have also been treated in a similar way. About 3 years ago I plucked up the courage to ride with the local club, as it was wet i rode my old bike which is entry level road bike. When I got to the meeting point I started to chat to a couple of riders that were already there. The first thing they did was look down there noses at my bike as they were on top end full carbon road bikes and commented to each other about my crap wheels, bottom end groupset etc etc.

This put me off but I decided to give it another go the following week. Saturday came and it was nice and sunny so I decided to take my good bike which is a much more expensive bike similar to the ones that the other riders were riding.... guess what...... The same riders were really chatty, two faced dicks!!

I decided not to ride with the club again as I cant be doing with this type of attitude.

Don't tar all roadies with the same brush... Some of us are ok!!!

Happy riding

I couldn't ride with a group of people who would do that. All the riders I know and cycle with are always friendly to all other cyclists. As said above you just stumbled across a bunch of twats

It's difficult to imagine a whole group of cyclists being idiots. It's quite possible that the couple of people who shouted are now regarded as bell-ends by the rest of the group.

Pay no attention to insecure pathetic excuses for cyclists, you ride what is comfortable for you at your own pace and only move out of their way when they find their manners if you encounter them again.

As others have said they are the exceptions not the normal cyclists you meet.

Proper cyclists!

Really pee'd off this evening. Missed cycling for a while for health reasons, ( bit of Osteoarthritis causing probs, and lack of get up and go), but recently been having a real go at getting out at least a few times a week, even if it's just round the village and back. ( And I'm really enjoying it!)

Theres a good cycle/ walking route round about, and thougt I'd have a nice leisurely ride, no fuss, when a few lycra clad all flashy bike riders came along. They were in a group so I slowed and pulled up so they could go past. Got some shouts along the lines of get off the road, get a proper bike, better off walking, go home & get a taxi, leave the road to the professionals, get off the road was said by a few of them. (I was riding properly, and safely at the time, not a really flashy bike, and its a ladies step through, as I have problems lifting my legs up and over.)

Didn't know you had to be all dolled and riding the best flashiest bike to be allowed on the road. Silly me, got all hot and bothered, cross and it really ruined my ride home.

I hope it's just a few who make nasty comments, I know most are genuinely nice people, but for not so confident, and newish riders like me, they can be really off putting.
Sory for posting a rant, and the spelling, fingers a bit stiff tonight!

Try extending that stiff finger in their general direction next time

If they were wearing club jerseys name the club on here maybe a few thousand letters of complaint to the club secretary may make them consider their behaviour on the road..Its bad enough getting abuse from car drivers.

A while back I was on a ERC run when some idiot in the chaingang started mouthing at some joggers that came towards us facing traffic (as they are supposed to do when there is no pavement), the rest of the peleton soon put him in his place. Hopefully the rest of their peleton had a word with those selfish pr1cks too. As said dont let it put you off, would the idiots rather have you jamming their path and polluting their and everyone's environment sitting in a car in a traffic jam, I know I wouldn't and I'm sure 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999% of other cyclists wouldn't either.

Very unusual behaviour.

There are some cyclists who take themselves too seriously, but that.

Thats really sad to hear WW, these ar**s who think they are something special are giving more of an indication of their own pathetic mentality than a true representation of cyclist. I really hope you don't let it get to you and get back out on your bike soon.

Fran.
