I fear that through the winter I have become a little disillusioned with the CX. A combination of an off on a slippy bend, being knocked off by a car, numerous disc brake adjustments, re-greasing of the bottom bracket, a broken spoke and now a snapped chain have all contributed to an overall feeling of negativity - especially in comparison to my 2010 Team Carbon.

Thinking about it however, I've absolutely hammered it since purchase back in May. It's taken me around Ireland without incident, it's carried me to work,to football, to the pub and on winter club runs easily totalling over 3,000 miles. It's not really surprising that it's showing a few signs of wear.

And to my detriment I've not really cleaned or maintained it as well as I should have, I've treated it like a winter hack, when really it should be my pride and joy. This is the bike that gets me through the wet, cold, harsh winter commutes, the bike that can be relied upon through thick and thin to get me to my destination... Not the pampered, lightweight wuss that only comes out when the sun shines.

Consider this the turning of a new leaf... new chain, new start!

I have the same bag and rack-ish, and mine rattles a bit over less than perfect roads.
Am in the process of adding some packing/padding to see if I can lessen it a wee bit.

There are one or two other little noises I need to track down, possibly the full guards. :cursing:

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :wahhey: have sorted out the rattle that was from the trunk bag and rack (dont look at pic if squeamish)

all that was need was to plannish the the runners down slightly:dance:now its snug and rattle free

I have a Broadrman CX and I want to fit mugguatds. I am thinking of buying SKS Chromoplastic Road Mudguard but not sure which size I should go for. My tyre Size is 700X35, would the 700x35-38 fit.

You'd have to try them. My initial instinct is that something that's wide enough to fit 38mm tyres would be too wide, especially for the front forks.
Mine are the 20-28 - I've attached an image

Although now I think about it I'm sure I remember someone asking a similar question a while ago and they might have got them to fit. There definitely is some room, whether it's 10mm I don't know.

I *really* want a Boardman CX. I'm in the process of getting our admin department to sort out Halfords as one of the suppliers on our Cycle to work scheme (I don't know the details, but apparently they run their own scheme, or something). I haven't quite make the commitment yet, but I can't imagine it'll be long until I give in!

Now, how do I explain to the wife that 6 bikes really isn't all that excessive?
