Looking again I would personally not repair it. Not sure it is a like for like comparison but a Surly LHT frame will cost under £300, so that makes your 26 years about a tenner a year. Personally I would invest in a new bike and move on from your old friend. Sad though

I think both chainstays would need to be replaced, and the mudguard bridge of course. But I'd quite like to be able to fit wider tyres - a 35mm Marathon ony just squeezes in, so replacing the frame would fix that. And while the 88 Galaxy frame is adequate, it's a bit wobbly by modern standards I think.

There's nothing at all wrong with the rest of the bike though, and none of it (apart from the canti arms) is original - it's all been regularly replaced an upgraded as needed. What am I going to do with all those good components if I replace the whole bike? So I think it'll be the frame that gets replaced.
