crikey! None of us know what's round the corner! Stick with it!

I expect you missed the bit about Manchester City doing the deal for Gerrard and Torres........

Sorry to hear about this Paul. Glad you are making a good recovery. But I think it's a little extreme to get out of watching the dross that Liverpool are playing this season...

Don't know nowt about it. My son took my brother instead of me to Man City as he told me a Blackburn Rovers fan was killed during a game a week or two before when someone had thrown a dustbin at him inside a stadium! Therefore he didn't want me to be so vulnerable at Eastlands so I didn't go. Watching it on MOTD made me glad I hadn't gone; aren't Liverpool rubbish at the moment?

That was such a difficult story to read but I'm so glad your immense mental strength is getting you through this, alongwith your previous physical strength.

Although these things do make you feel very vulnerable, I hope you gain some more personal strength in how tremendously you're dealing with what happened and recovering. Not a negative or self pitying statement in anything you've written which is so rare and yet so great.

Very best wishes from me on your complete and total recovery and best wishes to your wife too who has also been through a tremendous amount.

Thanks for that, mate. I wanted to let people know of three 'Get Well Soon' cards I got off big names. I got a certificate/card from Liverpool Football Club, off all the players plus Sammy Lee and Rafa Benitez, which represents best wishes for me to have a good recovery (they were contacted by my son's girlfriend as I've been a season ticket holder for more than 25 years). The guy on my avatar, Nigel Blackwell, the lead singer of Britain's best band, Half Man Half Biscuit, sent me a get well card after being contacted by my brother in law and Mark Cavendish, the Isle of Man professional cyclist also sent me a card! So I was well pleased about this.

Good grief Paul, that's terrible.

As longers wrote earlier, we were talking about you on my forum ride the weekend before last. You used to be here on CC all the time and then just stopped so I said that maybe you'd taken that new job you had been offered and didn't have the free time any more.

I hope that you make a full recovery from this and eventually start coming out on rides with us again!

Yeah, thanks, Colin. I'll let everyone know when I'm back cycling again and I am really wanting to do the Hebden Bridge spring ride that I did last year. It's possible I'll just do the shorter distance this year though depending on how much recovered I feel.

Jeez Paul - what a frightening nightmare for you and your family! So glad to hear that you're making a stunningly good recovery.

Stay well.
