My arrest story

1. Clearly he is maintaining that he was chatting but he was (as he admits) asking direct questions about the cops activities. OK he was foolish in doing this but a bomber would want to know such info.
2. He points out he was sweating a lot. If you read reports of people who were around bombers before they strike, you will see they are sweaty (due to the tension of the moment).
3. Google "suicide bomber". You will see lots of shots of suicide bombers standing holding a gun. They do this before the mission. He would have looked like this in his shot holding a real looking gun.
4. Go to London. In any street you will see at a guess at least 50% of the general public with some sort of darker skin colouring. It is daft to try to maintain that the police are suspecting half the population of london of being bombers. BUT if the man was ginger he would not be as likely to be a suicide bomber. Darker skin alone is not making him be arrested but all the suicide bombers were of a similar colouring so his profile fitted.

Each point is not standing alone. All four points were there at the same time (well the photo was after he was stopped but before he was arrested).
Are any of you really saying he should not have been checked in the circumstances?

So Over the Hill, when will we know when the 'War on Terrorism' has been won?

It can really be seen as no more than damage limitation.

I am greatly opposed to the US policy and our involvemet in such issues. Such policy brings bombers to us. We should get our noses out of other peoples business globally.

Reality is that there are people trying to blow other people up. Do we take action to stop them? We have no choice but to take action. The arrest was part of the action.

So the sensible thing for a potential suicide bomber would be to have a chat with an armed policeman? He could have been messing with his mind by using some kind of reverse psychology I suppose.

It was a hot day.

Easily confused I guess.;)

4. . BUT if the man was ginger he would not be as likely to be a suicide bomber.

Unless you were this guy perhaps:

There's checked and there's humiliated, goaded and bullied.

So we agree that with the 4 points adding together to amount to suspicion it was right that he was checked out.

We also agree that the way this was done was wrong.

You have not answered my question. Check out or ignore?

Check out

they seem to be a bunch of morons getting off on playing at being terrorists.
As to the guns they look like real guns to me. I cannot see how you can tell from a photograph if it is real or not. So hey if you are not 100% sure it is real I am sure you will all let him go!

Oh dear. Someone else slagging off a group of people doing something they enjoy just because he doesn't get it.

+1.

You are going off the point and you know it. Disgruntled Goat was trying to make a point that (and I think he is assuming) the photograph was of someone playing with a toy gun akin to paintballing.
Clearly his assumption was wrong as these "airsoft" guns are very real looking and seem to be mixed up in a culture of copying terrorists. You can see from the website that this is the case.
I would therefore think that the photo that contributed to the arrest is like the first example not the second as that is how the airsoft lot seem to act in the photos on the site.

Yes I am slagging such a group off. The same as I would slag off a group that modelled itself on any other distasteful act. Perhaps you would all be ok with a "Moors Murderer Club"? I make no apology for finding such group wrong.
You cannot tar everything with the same brush. You go into an area of deciding what is or is not acceptable, that is down to the individual, if you take "Life of Brian" it was seen unacceptable by a minority as we find with Cyclists. At the other end of the spectrum we have such things as child abuse which is rightly not accepted. I would simply put the activities of that website down at that end of the spectrum.
Apologies for having a view on the subject.

We don't know what the image was like so it's a pointless argument.

And unfortunately I'm starting to believe that I have been duped. My experience -generated prejudices against the police led me to believe this story was true but the longer the OP remains silent the more inclined I am to believe that this story is BS.

What exactly do you want me to say? Im not quite sure what to say - 90% of people say I was wrongly arrested, 5% dont care, and 5% think im a terrorist because I started talking to an ARMED POLICE OFFICER who was WALKING DIRECTLY TOWARDS ME. Not sure what I can say?

Plus, my boss had a go at me yesterday for nearly posting on here

Presumably you're 100% behind the other half of the airsofters who 'play' the police/army/blue force?
