Good morning from a sort of sunny Suffolk with a thin layer of cloud diffusing the sunshine. Coffee has been had with a dark chocolate digestive from a freshly opened pack. Shopping will need to be done later today as I need to top up the biscuit store and milk is also needed as there was only just enough for this morning's breakfast.

There were a couple of gigs I looked at getting tickets for this morning . The first had tickets available, but hotel costs for the day away were prohibitive even for the budget brands (starting at £150 for Travelodge due to being touristy York in mid August!), while the second put me in a wait queue as soon as the tickets went on sale and were sold out by the time I made the front of the queue. The second was also seating only starting at £45 so no great loss.

Cheap M&S food haul just arrived due to Ocardo giving me a £20 off a £60 shop. Lots off stuff I normally only buy rarely due to the price but at 2/3rds a wholly different matter. One substitution, teacakes instead of iced buns but gladly accepted as without it the £20 discount would not have activated.

seeing a hand specialist / surgeon in a cpl weeks. 1st appointment. got a ganglion cyst at the top of an end joint of one finger. hoping for a speedy excision, if not that day, a date soon after. not something for an amateur

Know the feeling, had one at the base of a finger during my apprenticeship which made using a screwdriver uncomfortable. Seeing I was working on teleprinters at the time & needed to use a screwdriver meant it had to be dealt with!

Sadly, yes. Even in this day and age there are people who don't have a mattock.
Your donation of £250 a month would help Mattocks4All to provide a family with a mattock. That would allow them to live in dignity and peace.
Please send your donation now and end mattock poverty!

A Mattock is not appropriate in all situations.

At least, that's what my downstairs neighbour said.

normally I would say "cool" but not these days

In the circumstances it's nice to know we have an air force.

I saw a F-104 flying over the house in Luftwaffe paint when I was a kid, no idea what the Luftwaffe was doing in Central Illinois, but I assume he was landing at the airport.

From what I heard about the F-104, I suspect he was concentrating very, very carefully.
