It's been a warm, breezy but largely overcast day here chez Casa Reynard.
Slept well despite lady issues interrupting things. Have reached the hump with those though. I was waiting upon a "signed for" package this morning, so decided to do some gardening - namely cutting down elderberries that have sprouted around the electric pole and anchor cable on the verge outside the house. The grass on the verge gets cut a few times a year, but I guess the space there is too fiddly for the machinery, ergo the proliferation of elderberries. I've done about half of it, which, when shredded, will fill my green wheelie bin. Will move it inside the gate tomorrow so it can be dealt with once the green bin gets emptied next week. Already looks a lot more tidy.
Package turned up - it contained my cake-day-present-to-self, namely a vintage Longines watch. Said the other day that I took a punt on the 'bay as a) the watch was dirty and b) the photos were awful. Seems the gamble has paid off, as the gunge was quickly cleaned off revealing a rather nice watch, and it is currently chuntering away, keeping time with my phone. The cherry on the cake (Longines buckle) didn't quite materialise, because the strap, while old, is a replacement. Ah well, for the price of a couple of takeaway pizzas, I'm not going to complain. I will be treating it to a new strap or possibly a beads-of-rice bracelet. We shall see.
Had a lovely luncheon of two slices of wholemeal toast, the last of the pate, the last of the Brunswick ham, some fruit and a
Then put the new chain on the saw and went off lumberjilling. New chain that I found in the garage the other day is a revelation. I'm now convinced the other one was faulty. Anyways, two hours in the garden resulted in a whole trailer full of cut logs.
Now sat by the fire with a

and a quiet evening is on the cards.
