That's the point of a viva: the module leader responsible has submitted a request for it and then the student is invited to discuss their work.

Either they'll know it or won't. Where they do the viva usually becomes a nice discussion around what they've written about the topic, which isn't in my subject area, or it's like pulling teeth when they don't. I naturally prefer the former.

Rough night, didn't sleep. Leg pain rather than pelvic fracture pain. Buzzy dull pain. Difficult to sleep with it even with prescription strength pain killers. No point phoning GP (they've not acted on a recommendation from the hospital for a further bone clinic appointment), so I'll message the physio team.

Both - the module leader wondered plus Turnitin Authorship flagged a range of interesting elements. I've been using it for about 6 years ever since it was developed as I was part of the pilot.

The 'buzzy dull pain' is what I'm getting with my re-built index finger. Only an issue at night and it's only subsiding very slowly.

Hopefully you'll keep getting better and the physio's can help.

Good morning from a 4th floor hotel room in Nottingham which is two doors up from the room I had at the end of February. Today's view is of the student accommodation block across the road.

A very large cooked breakfast has been had followed by a half hour rest to let everything settle before I head off to the rail station in the next 10 minutes. At least it's dry and partly sunny at the moment.

What happened to the spring sunshine? A mostly cloudy and chilly in the breeze day all the way from East Anglia to the East Midlands.

A very good evening has been had at The Bodega and I'm now relaxing with a beer before bedtime.

Viva done. Felt like pulling molars without anaesthetic and therefore the student gets moved to the next, more unpleasant, investigation stage.

I need a break as a result so am off out for a coffee and cake.
