Grumblin at Garmin on the Granny Gear
Errands all erranded, except for a couple of sacks of coal to give the fire a bit more oomph of an evening.

I have coal, but I need to fix the shed door before I can get to it without any mishaps, and I'm not doing that when it's cold and there's not much in the way of good daylight to get the job finished in one go. Actually, I really need a new door in order to completely mend my late father's botch job, but that's another story...

The Co-op in the next village are asking through the nose, and I'm not biting. I've wood enough, so I'll make do.

Now sat down with a :cuppa: and a chocolate cake bar thing.

Such things are going up. B&Q ask £30 for a large bag of wood, a few months ago it was £25.

I would guess early 80's ish.
No vapey thingies to avoid cold turkey. I just decided I wasn't going to spend over a quid a pack and stopped. I'd tried before by cutting down but that didn't work.

Same here, at uni then, and taxes were raised and the price went up. I got the 'flu and figured I would not pick up again, due to the health risks and expense. Very glad I quit, but I was miserable for a time.

A dull and grey, albeit mild day here chez Casa Reynard. Not much of a breeze, shame as I ate so many beans last night...

Did not sleep well. Brain wouldn't switch off, and I was still wide awake at half five. Well, that was the last time I looked at the clock. Have had a quiet day because I'm a mite grumpy, although matters weren't improved by the result in the football. Here's hoping that the men who play with funny shaped balls can do better.

Had a lovely luncheon of gravlax on toast, plus a tangerine, a banana and two :cuppa: and have then done most of the prep for tonight's supper. My hands now smell of lemon and garlic.

Just need to go and top up the bucket with kindling and small wood in a bit.

I know... But the Co-op were £5 more on a sack than Tesco for the exact same thing.

Half day today for Saturday. Also my first shift as duty supervisor, although the deputy manager will be in attendance to make sure I don't burn the place down.

Survived one of the busiest days of the year, capped off with a mentally unstable lady who had locked herself in the privvy and refused to come out until well after closing time. When she emerged she started screaming that the manager was attacking her and she would call the police. Apparently she was unaware that there three other staff members including me standing behind her at the time. Eventually she left, still spitting threats and increasingly strange claims.
My clients include convicted criminals, people with psychological issues or substance addictions, and the real dramas are almost always caused by customers...

Heavy rain and strong wind forecast but does not seem to have arrived yet.
Wake up call this morning at 0719 from a number I have not bothered checking as it cut off as soon as the answering m/c cut in.
Second day in a row and yesterday's one was a Manchester number.
The crew on the late ferry last night get praise again for waiting as the late bus from Glasgow had been delayed.
On one occasion in the past it was announced that the sailing would wait for a blue light ambulance blasting down the road. We could hear it coming but a tour guide complained bitterly that his charges would be late for their dinner in Oban. He never came back here again for his own safety.
Post Office are appealing for the owner of a probably touroid car blocking their parking so no post today unless it gets shifted.
I had to go out yesterday and ask reasonably politely new holiday house tenants to shift to allow my plumber to get parked.
They have a perfectly good parking area at the front of the house but are too idle to use it as they have to carry luggage another 10 yards.
Library ay today.

Why not invest in a fork lift truck ?
