Itching to get back on my bike's

48 minutes into the weekend already

Errands all erranded, except for a couple of sacks of coal to give the fire a bit more oomph of an evening.

I have coal, but I need to fix the shed door before I can get to it without any mishaps, and I'm not doing that when it's cold and there's not much in the way of good daylight to get the job finished in one go. Actually, I really need a new door in order to completely mend my late father's botch job, but that's another story...

The Co-op in the next village are asking through the nose, and I'm not biting. I've wood enough, so I'll make do.

Now sat down with a :cuppa: and a chocolate cake bar thing.

@Reynard - just what do you need a giant order of cling-film for out there in the country? On second thought, don't answer

The workmen who were staring into their hole outside my house came back, presumably after a long lunch. I've left them staring and went to collect a pair of wheels from Lancashire, then come to Manchester velodrome for track racing this evening. There's an Olympic and Commonwealth medal winner I know racing, so tonight will be fast.

Maybe by tomorrow, after I've taken parent 1 to visit parent 2 in the hospital in Lincoln they'll have done something with their hole.

Be careful what you wish for they may dig another hole to put the muc from 1st one into.

Well I'm here currently and much of the inside and outside is still a building site. Given work's been on-goung since 2021 I'm guessing it's the same construction firm:

Note the lack of riders ... at the moment. I'll try to get a photo of the 'fast' group at some point (can't photograph my 'slower' group as I'm racing in it, naturally).

The water people sent a letter round to let people know they were digging a hole on Wednesday. They did: it's outside my house. And left it.

On Thursday said hole was still there, but last night the barriers blew over.

This morning a big wagon came back and used a crane to put the barriers back.

Now there's two workmen staring at the hole. Not doing anything, just standing looking into it. And they've been looking at it for the past hour - SWMBO's home office that I'm squatting in * looks out towards them.

@tyred - has your local hole-digging workforce relocated to West Yorkshire?

* I do have a work paid-for desk in the conservatory but a) it's cold in there and b) it's currently (and almost permanently) covered in bike parts. And c) the work PC in there is currently set up for Zwift instead. Oh, and SWMBO's now hospitals-based five days a week, with offices in two of the three hospitals she works in, so she won't notice that I'm using the spare PC and desk in here. Hopefully
They seem to have disappeared and left holes surrounded by barriers all over the place.

48 miles completed today, longest ride of the year so far but I made it an all-day affair as a lot of it was on gravel roads and paths and I had a wander around the gardens at the national park in the middle of it.

I've got some yellow sticker haddock pie in the oven now and I will be going to the theatre.

A useful and productive day off. :becool:

Ouf, that banking is steep! The TV cameras don't half take the sting out of it...

One of those well I never moments. Discovered freesat and Roku signals use less of a HDMI cable than a pc signal. Had been puzzled why the pc kept on not communicating with display and it turned out to be a connector between the three way auto switch and the display shared by all; was letting the others through okay but not the PC's.

Aha! I'll tell them to go back AFTER they fill the hole outside.

Turns 3 & 4 in the photo are 38 degrees, turns 1 & 2 at the other end are 43 degrees. And yes, it's steep.

You want a go, don't you? :okay:
