Evening.
I went to Fordingbridge with my brother this morning . My brother was driving in his Car From Hell! It decided that it was going to play up ! Somebody at the Ford factory must have put a curse on it as everything plays up on it ! Today we had traveled 18 miles and had just passed Warminster when a loud rubbing noise started . We managed to crawl to a layby and stopped . The inner plastic front wheel arch trim had come loose and was sticking out and rubbing against the wheel . My brother didn't have any tools with him and I didn't have any matches. If I had I would have set light to the thing! I tried bending the sticking out bit of plastic back and forth to try to get it to break but it was tough plastic . I looked around to see if there was anything which had been thrown out from passing traffic which I could use to cut it . I spotted a strip of thin steel ! I managed to use it like a hacksaw and made a small nick in it . Both of us then pulled on the mudguard and managed to tear a piece off . Phew! We set off again and managed to get where we were going without any further trouble .

I had a Zenith for 35mm and a Rollieflex for anything else. Still have most of my negatives from the distant past and got a reader to get them on to digital if required.
I was fortunate to have a spacious darkroom permanently available and did a bit of freelance stuff and was called on by local organisations to do pics for them. I even did a few weddings but did not really like the pressure of making sure everything was done with no technical problems. To avoid this I duplicated everything with 35mm but the main pics were on the Rollieflex.
A good light meter was also essential but sold it and cannot now remember the make.
I only photograph weddings for relatives.

I have two light meters, a Gossen and this one, which has its own leather case and a lovely chain.

Bu99er!
I've been watching a pair of Carrera steel front forks on the bay . I thought that they might be able to replace the damaged front carbon forks on my Boardman . This afternoon when I got back I set about swapping the forks over from my Zelos onto the Boardman to see how they performed. I didn't notice any difference on my test ride . When I looked on the bay this evening they were Gorn!

Went to Thurlaston Garden Centre and Tea Rooms for breakfast this morning If you are in the area I can highly recommend it
If the slice of Chocolate Cake I had a few days ago are anything to go by I would classify them as generous I cut it in half ,wrapped it in a serviette and had it for mid afternoon snack the following day

Coffees not bad either

I don’t often have a cafe stop when out for a ride .Problem is this one is to close to home for a cycling cafe stop- .
I suppose I could just have a ride to the cafe It’s only four miles from home,Problem is Mrs p can’t ride a bike And before someone suggests it I’m not buying a tandem ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
A ZEM 2 maybe?

Rideable with only the one rider. And as a plus, you tend to be given a wide berth on the open road.

Had a lovely luncheon of a ham & stilton sandwich, a pear, a clementine and two :cuppa:

Then it was out to go erranding. Prescription picked up. Cutlack's was a bust - they had the pourer tops I was looking for, but only suitable for small bottles, not the big litre ones. Will look on the John Lewis website. The oriental supermarket yielded a large tub of thai red curry paste, and I picked up what I wanted in Tesco. Yellow sticker buys included two loaves of bread and a couple of kilos of leeks.

Also got the prints done for my archive. I will mount and file them over the weekend. And label them as best I can. The stock car ones can be a bit pot luck as the documentation is a touch patchy.

Mum decided that she couldn't do some paperwork this evening, so muggins got roped in to do it and thus forgot about a Bay of E auction she had been watching. And of course, someone snaffled the Lanco watch I had been watching. Aaargh.

Soup, jacket potato and an array of random leftovers for supper. Now conducting a massacre on a packet of chocolate biskits.

Only an idiot would have gone outfor a bike ride in today's windy coditions.

36 miles completed as I had to take advantage of one of those rare dry days!

I've still got my film gear, from the 126 format camera I learned on through to my Eos 5, and with a load of various other stuff in between. Never had access to a darkroom, so was very dependent on processing.

I used to get my films done in the Boots here in Ely; I got to know the lady who ran the lab and could tell her what I wanted doing. What she did for me was top notch. But then the lab closed and it became pot luck - which is one of the reasons why I switched to digital so quickly. One can only take so many ruined films when you're doing stuff for other people... At least with digital, I had complete control over the entire process, so if I bloopered, I only had myself to blame.

Like the time I shot a whole day's racing with a cat hair on the sensor...

Still shooting with my 1D mk2 - it's coming on 18 years old now, but can produce belting prints up to A3 size. The only thing that lets it down is its low light performance, especially compared to more modern digital camera bodies. My 10D has been retired as the flash shoe is loose / broken and won't focus properly indoors when using flash. It's not worth paying to get it fixed.

Had negotiated to buy a friend's 7D, but then Covid hit, and well, you know how these things go...
