Fabulous birthday supper of roast rib-of-beef (medium rare), roasties and red cabbage braised with apple & ginger. :mrpig:

Madam Lexi purrsonally approved of the beef before I shoved it in the oven.

I didn't know you'd cooked it with ginger. Sounds interesting.

Reg cabbage goes well with a lot of things... But yes, I always put some minced fresh ginger in, plus some Chinese 5-spice, as well as a couple of apples, a large onion and a bay leaf. And a small carton of apple juice.

Sometimes I'll add the zest and juice of an orange, or some chilli, whatever the mood takes me.

I tend to add cider vinegar and the apples stewing away take the sharpness out of the vinegar. But I'll try some ginger next time.

I use cooking apples by preference, in order to give me that sharpness.

In this case, some Cottenham Seedlings from the community orchard. Though having stored them since October, they're actually mellow enough to eat as is...

Happy birthday Reynard

A lovely bright day today but quite cold. Ice on car windscreens this morning when I was walking to work. Last day in the office this week, so I can relax and work from home tomorrow.

I did my good deed for the day today when I noticed a Mitsubishi Colt with the lights on when I was walking home from work. I went and knocked on the door of the house and let them know. She was very grateful. I often see the woman who uses that car and she doesn't seem to have great mobility. I possibly saved her the inconvenience of flat battery.

I'm not long back from my wednesday dance class. Soon be time for bed.

Not a bad day out in London, but give me the potholed narrow and low traffic country lanes round here than the continuous traffic, full road width (unavoidable) speed humps/tables, randomly appearing and disappearing segregated cycle lanes and cycle superhighways that go the wrong way along one way streets. Then there's the illegal ebike riding delivery types, tourists without a clue on hire bikes, tourists without a clue on foot round various attractions and everything added up to only just having time for a quick wind down drink on completion rather than a relaxed one.

Sunshine AND warmth - I even exposed my arms below the elbows to the elements!

Welcome to my world - because of my damaged finger I've been in short sleeves since Christmas.

:cold:

Only now it's starting to warm up has the sensitivity / swelling / bandages gone down enough that I can start wearing long sleeve clothing again.

And thank you so much to all you lovely mundaners for the Cake Day wishes xxx :hugs: I definitely do not feel my age. I think I have age dysphoria.
You're not alone - how many other Mundaners think of themselves as being much younger than they are, only for reality in the form of aches & pains to hit the next day when they actually try to do something age inappropriate?
