I am losing track of the zeros in this calculation.

If a house in central London sells for £140 million, stamp duty should be approximate £23 million. There is helpful website to work this out, assuming this a "second" home.

If you are trying to find £20 billion, I am correct in thinking you need to find another one thousand homes selling at that price? For my purposes I have rounded down the £23 million to £20 million, as that is easier to work out on the back of an envelope.

Have you come into some money ?

Today has been a bit of a non-event as I didn't really do much. I had hoped to get out on the ye olde two wheeled transportation device, but frost and ice, followed later by freezing cold rain spoiled that idea. It's really bitterly cold out and now we have yet another weather warning for tonight.

My parents electricity it back on this evening too, which is good as my Dad isn't really that well and not being able to use his nebulizer has made his breathing worse. Now the stupid phone line has gone down again, so I'll have to report that in the morning. You have to wonder how it survived the storm and then went a couple of days later. It must be the most unreliable phone line in the world.

My aunt and uncle have been given an estimated date of 31st for their electricity.

I'm out now for my usual Sunday evening live music fix.

What a wet & windy afternoon. It finally stopped raining somewhere around 6pm and the wind has also dropped a bit so I've moved the non-recycling wheelie bin to the front of the house ready for emptying in the morning. It doesn't really need doing but I'll be away for the weekend when it's the next non-recycling collection.

I've also submitted the application and paid for my senior railcard at almost the earliest you can in advance of being eligible for one.

Surely you mean "already have saved" as I've already got 17 days worth of travel already booked against the discount.
