No but it is similar, pudding rice is pudding rice, I remember when they only sold 2 types of rice in shops whereas now I have about 10 different types/varieties of rice in my cupboard all with different characteristics/flavours, only subtle differences but noticeable From Basmati to Thai 'Jasmine' sticky Rice to some of the nuttier 'Wholegrain' and 'Wild Rice'. Latest is an African 'Kilombero' Rice from Malawi in both White and Wholegrain.
Like 'back in't day' you could only buy two types of peas; processed or marrowfat.
And now look - !
I really think that folk now are completely bewildered by too much choice.

It's been a very mild but very murky day here chez Casa Reynard, and one with drizzle hanging in the air.

Slept much better. The usual chores were done this morning including removing the ash from the grate, re-stocking wood, re-jigging fridges and checking the fruit & veg stores for anything in danger of developing language skills. The cauliflower I have in is looking a bit tired, so I shall steam it later. Once it's cooked, it can go into the fridge and be used in a cauliflower cheese after the weekend.

Had a lovely luncheon of sourdough toast, coronation chicken, torta di gorgonzola cheese, fruit and a :cuppa:

This afternoon was spent lumberjilling. Saw started first time, so yes, I did overheat it / flood it yesterday. Whoops! I brought in a heaped trailer load. Took off another three slices from the stump of that ash tree and cut each slice into quarters. That final slice was about 20 inches in diameter. Erk! The rest of the stump is of dubious quality. I will need to knock all the soil off it to see whether it's worth cutting the rest up.

Found another dead ash tree nearby. It's dingle dangling, but I can remove bits safely. Took off one large branch, and that was so big it filled most of a trailer. On the way back, I stopped off at an oak I'd felled last week, and chucked the rest of that onto the load. Most of the wood is in lengths, ergo I will have to spend some time turning that into logs. But when the light is poor, time is of the essence, and bringing in a good quantity of wood trumps turning it into logs every time.

Now sat back by the fire with a nice :cuppa:

You may be right, exotic round here is walking into the Chinese Takeaway and asking for "Chicken Curry, Half Rice Half Chips"

Mind it leaves more in the shops for us who know what we're buying, The local Co-op sometimes has things in on 'special' but they never sell, likewise they used to sell Chillies, Ginger and Garlic but no more so I have to go a mile up the road to the 'Tesco Express' to get em.

Rail tickets were colected while out for a walk under grey skies - 2 hours, just under 7 miles and a free drink from Greggs thanks to Confused this time. I really need to keep away from the Greater Anglia web site when there's cheap tickets on offer as another outing was booked a short while ago and I'll have to pick those tickets up when I go out to get some milk on Thursday morning.

Must also remember to get a gammon steak out of the freezer for tea on Thursday.
