Good morning from a grey and slightly misty Suffolk where the first coffee of the day is currently being had after a very good night's sleep and a lie in.

This morning looks to be an ideal time to do some light domestics and then I'll probably go out for a walk in the afternoon to get the rail tickets and cycle reservations that I paid for last night printed out at the machine at the local station on the way back.

Reading about Marchrders MIL it makes me wonder what those of us who dedicated our lives to maintaining the independence and care of the elderly was worth while. The care seems to be falling more on family members who may not be in the first flush of youth.Voluntary day care is coming under pressure re funding.

It sounds as though care of the elderly Is no better in your neck of the woods is no better than it is in the UK.

depends on money I guess. for example our Mother was in rehab but didn't get enough attention so we hired an extra nurse to give her a shower & help w/ other tasks. I feel like that made the staff resentful & so they neglected her more. now that she is up on her feet again & at nursing home she can do more for herself. but I had lunch w/ her & some ladies & found out 1 has an aid with her all the time. someone from an external agency not staff at the nursing home. my Mothers aging kids, me & 3 siblings can only do so much. my brother is handling the money & he says there's money for all this. distance makes everything more difficult

Yep I know it's not actually a rice. Rice is also an aquatic plant too but grown in shallow water.
The normal way of buying it here is mixed with either Long Grain or Basmati although you could probably get it from a specialist 'health food' shop. (one thing that has always puzzled me is how come people who work in 'health food' shops always look so ill.)

Maybe they emphasize diet over exercise?
