From local experience, the crows and jackdaws are far more like a homogenous group than distinct species. I think that it's because of their near-identical appearance that I find pitched calls so intriguing and so distinctive. Plus, I've yet to find any mention of ''musical'' calls.

Crows are the ones on the left.. HTH

Congratulations to mr and mrs @dicko

Postie turned up with the new router. Bit confused as it talks about plugging a modem into it, assume that is merely an option.

Need to post a card lead to the car being used to the Co-op and a small shop done. Paths look like skates are needed.

I had some good news this morning. My next door neighbours have taken their house off the market. Apparently the housing market is very flat.

So instead they are making some improvements to the garden, including an outdoor hottub. Before @fossyant falls off his chair laughing, they fortunately have one of those systems where the sunlight heats water, rather than producing electricity.

They are very quiet neighbours, and who knows what any new neighbours would be like.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Another hospital visit this morning and apparently there's positive progress.

The skin graft plaster is off as it appears to have pretty much healed and the redness will go over time. I'm on a much smaller finger bandage and will be re-dressing it myself as it needs washing at home and moving/wiggling. The finger, although a bit stubbier, does look like a finger however I'll have to wait to see if the nail re-grows and the re-shaping process they will start soon-ish. I'm amazed at what they have done with bits of squashed tissue and a skin graft (sorry if you're squeamish xx( ). Apparently I did also break my finger as well.

The finger is very cold as a) I'm in short sleeves due to the skin graft and b) the capillaries which were severed haven't re-joined yet. As a result the heating's up high each day and I'll deal with the financial consequences at a later date. If there's a gas shortage, sorry.

@DCLane

I had a septic thumb and the nail and various nerves were removed. The nail grew back slowly.

There is a funny side to that episode.

The thumb went septic because of a splinter under the nail, that I did not know about until my arm went a hideous shade of purple and red. I ended up in A & E, and an operation the next day. I had an enormous bandage on my hand, and my arm in a sling. People obviously asked what was wrong with my arm, and they thought it was hilarious when I said that I had a splinter removed from my thumb. ^_^
