A day of two halves weatherwise here chez Casa Reynard. A right proper hoolie and driving rain till about 3pm, followed by clearing skies, falling temperatures and a switch to a biting north-westerly breeze.
The desire to sleep in was kiboshed by a full bladder. Did some chores before luncheon. Toast, smoked black forest ham, abondances cheese, fruit and was had.
This afternoon's task was to empty the contents of the trailer into the log bin, restock the wood in the house, and turn the cranberries I bought yesterday into a batch of cranberry sauce. That yielded four 1lb jars. Two have been sealed to shove in the cupboard, one is for a friend, and the last will be wanged in the fridge to be dipped into once the tub in the fridge is finished. I've also made a pot of turkey noodle soup.
Now sat with a and a gaufre de liege* and listening to Brentford v Arsenal on the radio.
* It is tradition in Belgium on New Year's day to have waffles, galettes and lukken. We hold to that tradition here, though this time round they are bought. Although I usually do make waffles most years.
