Re Homebase - Oban and Moor Allerton are amongst the 74 not bought by CDS Superstores. CDS are going convert those bought into The Range stores. It been a pretty much a lost cause since the 2016 sale to the Australians (Wesfarmers) who made a £57m loss on the acqusiition and sold it to Hilco for £1 in 2018. Hilco prior to this abandonment have already closed 106 stores. The Starbeck Harrogate store has been dire since the Wesfarmers acquisition during whose ownership around half of the store lights were switched off. Under Hilcos ownership whilst the lights have been switched back on all that has done is bring into focus the tatty floor coverings and general run down appearance of large parts.

A couple of hours out on the bike late morning/early afternoon and I got caught out by the weather not being as warm as it looked or was forecast despite the sunshine - I should have used thicker socks or boots to keep my feet warm.

Very little done otherwise except for finishing off the Adrian Newey book I've been dipping into (very good) and listening to the F1 practice from Qatar. Now time for a hot chocolate and to watch the recording of qualifying while trying not to book another couple of tickets and nights away.

A sunny but deceptively chilly day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well enough. Had a kitchen morning, the result of which was a big pot of Scotch broth packed with a nice mix of veggies and pearl barley. :hungry: I used the lamb bones / trimmings I picked up in Waitrose last week for 36p, along with the bone and skin from the pork chop I bought at the same time. The chop was a treat for Madam Lexi - she has had some of it and it went down without touching the sides, bless her.

Brief luncheon of soused herring on toast, an apple and a :cuppa: . The herrings were bought on sticker off the deli counter in Waitrose, and I'd highly recommend them. They're sold as "herrings with onion" but the vinegar marinade is red (red onions, I suspect), nicely sweet-sour and is jazzed up with allspice and chilli. Bloody lovely.

Spent the afternoon emptying the trailer and cutting / splitting logs. No space in the green bin to dispose of the sub-par sawdust, so I shipped it in the trailer and will dump that in the garden somewhere instead.

After, I took the parental to Littleport so she could sort something out at the quack.

Jacket potato, spicy mexican chicken and cheese for supper. As well as a big bowl of that banging soup.
