A sunny but deceptively chilly day here chez Casa Reynard.
Slept well enough. Had a kitchen morning, the result of which was a big pot of Scotch broth packed with a nice mix of veggies and pearl barley.
I used the lamb bones / trimmings I picked up in Waitrose last week for 36p, along with the bone and skin from the pork chop I bought at the same time. The chop was a treat for Madam Lexi - she has had some of it and it went down without touching the sides, bless her.
Brief luncheon of soused herring on toast, an apple and a
. The herrings were bought on sticker off the deli counter in Waitrose, and I'd highly recommend them. They're sold as "herrings with onion" but the vinegar marinade is red (red onions, I suspect), nicely sweet-sour and is jazzed up with allspice and chilli. Bloody lovely.
Spent the afternoon emptying the trailer and cutting / splitting logs. No space in the green bin to dispose of the sub-par sawdust, so I shipped it in the trailer and will dump that in the garden somewhere instead.
After, I took the parental to Littleport so she could sort something out at the quack.
Jacket potato, spicy mexican chicken and cheese for supper. As well as a big bowl of that banging soup.
