I have read today that Zoe Ball is resigning from her DJ job on radio 2 where she was paid £ 950 000 ||| This is insane money for just talking on the radio and exposes how the BBC is wasting out licence fee.

It's been an increasingly mild and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, with hosing rain early doors.

Did not sleep well. Kept waking up and feeling restless, so in a bit of a sleep deficit. Other than making a pot of soup, emptying the ash pan and topping up the wood bins in the house (involved some log splitting), I have had a quiet day.

Watched the snooker (Ronnie lost, waaaaaaaaaah! ) and have been listening to the footy.

I will need Bert to blow through before going around the paths and drive with a brush, as anyone who goes out then tracks leaves and tree bits back in.

Evening.
I have been really tired this afternoon and have slept most of it. I have tried playing my clarinet but couldn't get anything out of it until I swapped the mouthpiece over from another one but even then had difficulties.

I did a lot of orchestral playing when I was younger. The single-reed players were singularly obsessed with their reed, though the double-reed players were not quite doubly so. You might need some new reeds.

The big cat has been to the vet this afternoon for his annual check-up.

He must have agreed that the Portuguese lady vet checking him over was very friendly because he didn't attack the vet like he normally does.

He's fine. He's still big but didn't have breakfast or lunch, so I'm guessing he ate out this morning. I'll await the local FB group announcement for "has anyone seen my missing pet rabbit/guinea pig/etc. ...?"

They are saving £500 000 of that as Scott Mills is apparently "only" getting £450 000.
Theres an issue as with the public sector generally which has to pay the market rate or offer employment terms to mitigate a lower rate as they are in competition with the commercial / private sector for staff.

Paid off the builder for the toilet so now i am in the middle of decorating and had a argument with mrs ck about where to mount the toilet roll holder as where she wants it is too close to the toilet for my liking and the obvious place she doesnt want it there .As usual she has a strop and it goes in the place she wants even though it doesnt work .
Mini ck 1 has a bad cough so has been off college all week so if shes not any better by monday we will be back down the doctors
Next week i had to use a holiday to take mrs ck to the hospital for a retina scan which may involve a needle in the eyeball as the eye test at the clinic last week has raised some issues and the doctor wants to see here asap .
I am tired and grumpy today as i have been on late shift and with the weather i haven't been near a bike all week so i am in a shout at everything mood today .

Thanks for reading as i just needed to vent as i am need of chill time but dont have anyone i can talk too.

Sounds dreadfully familiar. But we got through 48 years and 11 months. But there are no guarantees for 50

I could play some notes on my Boosey and Hawkes Regent but my Selmer Console is difficult. I have an old rosewood Albert clarinet which I can also get some notes out of. I will try reed to see if that makes a difference.
I can't play on my Regent as my granddaughter has it .
I just tried it again with a different reed and nothing. I tried it again with the mouthpiece off my Albert and I managed the first line of Oh Come All Ye Faithful. Not necessarily in the right order!
It would seem that it is the mouthpiece that I'm having difficulties with.

An eventful day but very little actually accomplished.

I had a few errands to run and fitted in a walk on the beach too while I was out and about. Windy but deceptively mild in a complete U-turn from the temperature during the week.

I had thought about cycling but pleased I didn't as the roads were worse than I thought with several inches of slush in places, really thick fog in places, flooding, and I had had to turn and take an alternative route due to a flood I didn't like the look of. There are those marker posts with reflectors on the edge of the road there and it seemed the water was about two foot deep.

I also got caught up in a turning on Christmas lights event and there were also a diversion due to yesterday's fatal RTA.
