It's been a grey and cool day here chez Casa Reynard.

Did not sleep well, as my knee kept complaining every time I turned over in bed. And my mind wouldn't switch off. So had a quiet morning puttering about doing some chores that needed doing. Filling up the wood bins, disposing of the mouse that ventured into the upstairs box trap, then rebaiting and resetting the trap. Peanut butter works a treat btw. Also emptied the trailer and stacked yesterday's wood in the garage ready for cutting up.

Found the hitch bolt which I thought I'd misplaced. Actually, it was in the bottom of the trailer where I thought I'd put it back in the spring, but it had decided to hibernate under a load of bark scraps... Whoops! All I need to do is find my favourite pair of safety glasses, as those seem to have done a runner. I have another pair, but they've a tendency to steam up.

Went and did another load of lumberjilling. Found a patch that I'd left half done back in the spring, and managed to bring in a decent amount of oak, cherry and hazel. Slow going though, as I really need to replace the chain on the saw. After a couple of winters' hard use, it's rather unredeemable. I will pop into Ernest Doe on Monday when I go to Littleport to pick up the parental's prescription. Sure, I could get the chains somewhat cheaper at Screwfix, but I drive past Doe's when I go to the quack, whereas Witchford is on the other side of Ely. And in any case, it's nice to support an independent trader, and they're always so helpful with stuff.

Did fish and chips for supper. Home made triple-cooked chips alongside the beer-battered haddock I bought in Tesco on Wednesday. The fish was bloody lovely, and I'd really recommend it.
Is there any left to try, or do we have to get our own?

Just back from a run, though actual runners may regard my pace as a moderately fast walk.

I am the same these days. It’s more of a shuffle! You think you’re doing ok until a real runner overtakes and disappears into the distance.

An old £1 coin?
Most, if not all trolleys are/were designed to take them not the new ones. Replacement mechanisms cost close to £100.

No a current £1 coin, not found any locally it does not fit. Would expect in the time since the coin change many trolleys have been replaced anyway. Does not get used much as Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Asda do not have locked trolleys and I usually use a basket in the others. Will get used today as Morrisons have sent me another £6 off £30 voucher.

I usually avoid "sales" and Black Friday in particular.

My current puter is getting old in the blue tooth. The usb slots are now wobbly, which makes the mouse and the wifi unpredictable. I called out my expert computer technician. The computer he suggested buying to replace it, is at John Lewis with currently £200 off, which is good news.

Check the manufacturers web site, it may be cheaper. Often the discount is by the maker on top of which resellers add their own mark up.
