I just can't listen to opera, to me it just ruins perfectly good music.Maybe I just haven;t heard the right one yet but I just can;t stand the wailing vocals.
You might be thinking of bel canto style, you might like Puccini and Mascagni and Leoncavallo better. Those are called verismo style operas, as is Verdi. Wagner and Richard Strauss might be a bit better. It is better to start looking at opera scenes to start, and arias and musical interludes. Because grand opera can be a long sit. Wagners' Parsifal is pretty neat, all about the Holy Lance and The Grail, but it takes an eternity to watch. Seeing it in person is great, but you really have to pony up the bucks.

I don't know, I listen to a couple of classical music radio stations over here so must have heard a whole variety of operatic styles. Not one have I enjoyed. I just have a negative reaction to it. I obviously recognise the quality of singing etc but I just find it a turn off.as I said I love a bit of classical music but put a voice over it and I'm out. Mellow choral numbers however I do like especially in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. I often have a classic station on very quietly. It's just something for the brain to hang it's hat on and help stop the thought process that keeps me awake.

If you don't know how basd your injuries are, might it not be the right time for your first hospital visit? Especially as you are so so sore.
noooooooo...... are you squeamish? I can PM you a picture of the knee on the day and as it was yesterday. I have refrained from posting here for a very good reason, but the knee does appear to be healing well, though is still weaping. The ribs on the other hand we both think will be several weeks at least. This week is due to be wet and I have a house inspection on Wednesday, so it will be a quiet week anyhow. Probably for the best. Provided I can clear all the mucus from my lungs each day, I should be OK. Even strained intercostal muscles (the muscles between the ribs) hurt for a long time, cracked ribs hurt for longer. We will see how I am tomorrow and take it from there. I really don't want to have to sit in a car for 60-70km to be told all is well, now go home again. The journey out just to collect our latest addition to the flock was bad enough. Provided I can keep moving and breathing does not become more problematic I will monitor it. I have ABs at home so can always take those if needed and am taking extra steroids as it is to cover the body needing more to heal. plus loads of vit c and zinc and extra calcium as a precaution.

The latest addition to our flock, and hopefully the final one. (it is hopeful because we only have a 5:1 ratio chooks:roosters, not the recommended 6:1. It should be OK because there is no competition but we will see what progresses and if too much happens another will need to be added to the flock.

Apart from the obvious, what does a rooster do with its time?
