In fact, it contracted into an egg, milk and floury block of concrete

Did you pre heat the fat in the tin before adding the batter? Was the oven hot enough?

Thanks. It has been a busy but great birthday weekend. The cake and champagne afternoon went well and we had a wonderful dinner last night as well as the lunch today. Mr K drove her back and I've been clearing up. Relaxing in a hot bubble bath now.
When we took her back to Birmingham at the end of August, it wasn't too bad because I knew she was coming back for this weekend but it was much harder this evening as that's it until Christmas.

We've just done the drop stuff left behind when Middle Summerling went to uni including the airer and wellies!

Now heading further north to the mother in Law!

I'm having a Yorkshire pudding nostalgia moment here. As kids, we used to have the puddings before the roast lunch. Big paddling pool size puddings filled with gravy from the roast to start off the meal like a soup in an edible bowl. They were excellent.

And if you're careful in extending them, you should see 1916 marked on one of the barrels

I have had a good look but I can't see a date marked anywhere. There is what looks like half a crows foot mark on the bridge, there isn't enough room there to put a full mark. The lenses and the image is crystal clear. The binoculars came with a Voitlander Vito B svs camera for £24 including commission.
I am pleased with them and impressed with the craftsmanship, even the buckle on the leather strap has a tiny leather cover with minute stitching.
