I've had a squillion sub-committee papers to look at and I may have fallen asleep in the process of reading them.

........actually I think I'll delete my posts about my committee work, I wouldn't want anyone to think I actually did any work.

Apropos of nothing, I was watching a repeat of Michael Mosley's "Pain, Pus and Poison" on iPlayer last night. I don't understand how most medicines work (he did try to explain) but the history of medicine is fascinating.

There's a brilliant book about cancer, called The Emperor of all Maladies by Siddharth Mukherjee. It's not gory but traces the history of the development of anti-cancer treatments. Well worth a read.

But the gory bits are the best bits! Mosley stuck a needle through his (anaesthetised) hand and could hardly look at it. I wanted to reach into the TV and wriggle it.
