This is taking a little getting used to.

At least you had the sense to take it with you. People always used to look at me in madness when I went and got my inhalers, coat, house keys, work keys (same key ring) and coffee when the fire alarm went off at my last place. It actually got to the point in the end that other staff members would do the same. We would then sit outside and have a break/lunch accordingly and wait for the entire school to have a head count before we were all allowed back into any building... Don't miss it in the slightest.
I was once in a bomb alert (well I've been in more than one of those), but one in the centre of Bristol near my work. We had to leave the building and none of us took anything including keys etc. We weren't allowed back in the building until the following day. Since that day I do have a tendency to grab a bag and coat if it's cold. I know you aren't supposed to, but it's always there in the back of my head.

I wonder if they do it differently that they can do that .... Can anyone answer how dangerous that would be, I mean we've had it drummed into us that you don't do that, but maybe there isn't that much danger after all?

I didn't know that you could get rubber to be as hard as as hardwood. Well you learn something new every day!
