Lewis Ramilton living up-to-date his nickname again, although I also agree the penalty was a bit harsh. I too reckon it was just this side of a racing incident, but then I'm not a Marshal.

He had the corner and understeer was always on the cards - Checo was self-destructive to hang it out on the outside. Sometimes withdraw and regroup is smarter than battle it out regardless.

I'm surprised nothing was said about Perez blocking & not leaving racing room on corners previously & after.

Martin Brundle, before the penalty, commented something about could Hamilton have kept a tighter line. The stewards obviously thought he could have done and issued the penalty.

Hamilton only had his nose in front for the briefest of time and was only halfway alongside the Redbull when the collision occurred. It did, to me, appear to be more on the side of a racing incident but we don’t have access to the data the stewards have.

Certainly the commentators seemed to feel that Perez was a bit of a twit for not backing off.

No penalties for unsafe releases in the pit stops ? Gasly was released almost into an Aston amongst others

He may, or may not have been but I’m sure the steward’s decision on the matter would be interesting to read if published.
It actually kind of supports what the commentators said. Perez left no room on the inside for Hamilton, and when he understeered due to wet conditions he hit Perez. If Perez had left more room there wouldn't have been a collision. Slightly baffled as to why they then fault Hamilton for causing the collision. Where was he supposed to go?

They were British commentators . I'm sure the Mexican commentators had a different perspective. I remember John Watson being at the sharp end of a race and UK commentator saying "the British driver Wattie " , when Watson dropped it and fell way down the field he was "Irish" but when he fought back to the front again he regained his British citizenship. I saw Hamilton's interview about the incident and his facial expression and tone was akin to the schoolboy caught with jam on his face in the bun shop . Perez seems to be self destructing however . Verstappen is undermining him and crushing his confidence by totally dominating and delivering constant flawless performances

Think of it this way. Verstappen has understeered into Ramilton in a similar scenario and was punished. Hamilton's fanbois would accept no such excuses back then, so why should things be any different two years on when Hamilton does the same?

And in a shipping container outside Banbury two 14 year old boys sit in the chairs with the X Box controllers in their hands ....
They drive Hamiltons car ... he hangs on for dear life and is the "Face" of his team ,...
And in a shipping container in Germany, in Italy....et al .....

I didn't say that they should. I said I didn't fully understand the decision given that Perez left nowhere for Hamilton to go.
