Same as last year but totally different to the last set of regulations. Pre 2022

You do know that the FIA don’t award any points for style?
It means nothing until you see how fast they go.

Merc clearly still have faith in their invisible side pod concept

Yes - but we all know that the best looking cars go faster!!

(And in the case of the Merc, the black raw fibreglass is for weight reduction...)

I think they may be way off the minimum weight , as are several other teams, to be running so much area paintless.

It doesn't seem look that long since they had to add ballast to get UP to the minimum weight.

You *really* don't want to be using GFRP on an F1 car. Not unless you want the thing to do a collapso in an impact, have suspension components pulling free of the tub and provide a driver with blancmange-like handling due to a lack of torsional stiffness. ;)

Impossible to tell how much grandstanding and sandbagging is going on though. Hamilton's best time is 0.6secs off Max's but without having parity of fuel setup etc it's all a bit meaningless. I suspect RB want the kudos of posting the fastest time.

Yes, its meaningless until the first race weekend and they start the qualifying.

The fastest lap times are pretty meaningless but the way the cars behave can tell you an lot about who's chassis is working to spec and who's struggling to get consistent laps in .

I've been watching it on and off today and so far ...

Red Bull look fantastic , riding the kerbs very well, consistent on the their lines , riding the kerbs the best with very little corrective steering.
Ferrari look really good all round but lack the smooth ride over the kerbs of the RB. They are looking a tad bouncy.
Mercedes are great in places but seem to set to their will continue there inexorable rise from third best to third best team .

Alfa Romeo look best of the rest today but not by a lot.
Aston Martin and Alpha Tauri look firmly mid field.
McLaren are a bit all over the place with issues around the brakes area again.
Alpine and Haas look to be lacking pace all round
Williams doing glory laps as usual.

ETA then Alonso popped in a great lap just to confuse thing.

ETA Alpha Tauri , who look a lot like Haas

It'd be handy if they put which tyres were being used to set each time. Given there are 6 normal slicks and a prototype
