I got it at less than half price, was a bargain too good to miss. Of course the "half price" that i say i paid is really less than quarter of what i actually paid

You might have heard about it from me. The technique works even better when the bikes are all the same colour. A back up coping strategy is seeking for forgiveness rather than permission - the pain duration is much shorter

works for me! Black bikes only.

I wouldn't have a partner who thought it her business to tell me what to spend my money on. If I was paying my share of the bills and we didn't have any financial worries then it would be up to me if I wanted to own 20 bikes (I don't).

I think it's fair enough to set a limit on how many bikes are allowed in the house because they take up a lot of room and it could be argued that they make the place look untidy.

I currently have 2 road bikes, a mountain bike and a large gym bike in the house, oh, and the frame and forks from a dead Bianchi which I'm reluctant to just throw away! No partner though...

If I could afford it, I'd like to buy a good titanium audax/light touring bike which would double up as a wet weather bike, but I'd be prepared to sell one of the current road bikes to make room for that. If I lived somewhere flat, I'd also like to own a singlespeed bike, possibly one that could be 'flipped' to fixed wheel.

All my bikes were with me when I got the other half. Since then, I've built a bike for her out of a frame I found in a bin, then told her she needed something a bit better, with the result that she bought a Dawes Galaxy. I also told her she needed to keep the old one as a hack bike. Now I can simply say "well, you're just as bad" if she gives me any grief about having too many bikes.

Good going - get her hooked as well...

I've said it before, but a member of this forum and his wife have about 30 bikes altogether.

My wife doesn't go short of anything she wants so it's really got naff all to do with her how many bikes are in the garage.

Who wears the trousers in your household?

+1 I don't ask her how much she spends on clothes. I dont tell her how much I spend on bikes. ;)

what are other peoples way of explaining to their wife/partner/husband/parent that they need more than 1 bike for their sport/recreation purpose etc ? i have one bike cost 600 euros last sept and i am buying one in 3 weeks for 1900 euro , any ideas on the approach or should i just hide it inthe car or shed ??

i have returned to cycling last summer to help in losing weight and getting fitter . i do know if i had a good bike it would encourage me more to use it !

Q: Why do you need more than one bike?
A: Why do you need more than one pair of shoes?

The flaw in your approach, Paul, is the general assumption that women are into shoes as much as we are into bicycles... this may come as a slight shock, but not all women are. ;)

You are of course correct; although I referencing occasions where I knew my accusers had more than enough shoes for my comment to check mate them, with bells on

You need to adopt a long term plan... become interested in watching movies at home, become dissatisfied with your current TV and start looking at high-end surround sound home theatre systems.

There are some nice ones for about £2500, in fact you could even take the missus along to look at some.

Don't undercook your desire for your new found interest....... until seeing and admitting the stupidity of your ideas.

Buy a £1500 bike and a nice pressie for the missus instead.

Sorted.

I did just that, bought her this; worked a treat; even if it did cost me a fortune!
