We'll write you a note saying that unless you have more than several bikes you can't be in our gang.

Surely she wouldn't want you to be Billy No Mates hanging around at home all the time;)

This married woman has four cycles of her own. MrWC has four of his own.. The offspring has six. If your wife objects, you possibly have the wrong wife.

An easy way to do it is to buy a couple and thereafter build your own. Get the bits deilvered to work, smuggle them down to the shed/garage and the collection slowly grows without anyone else figuring out what's going on.

Or so I'm told - I wouldn't know though....cough!

Ask her how many pairs of shoes she has. When she replies, ask her why she needs that many - she only has one pair of feet. When she says that they are for different occasions, QED re bikes.

Although I adopt McGinty's approach - I have nine (yep, nine) bikes in the cellar. I take the wheels off and move them all around a bit every time I go down there. SWMBO still hasn't caught on.

Although two are officially hers, FWIW....

You can play a more subtle game though - "Darling, what would you say if I spent £3500 on a bike?" (*Y&^(*&*(^%&*^$%£$%^&* "Well, I've only spent £600 on it" etc etc.

+1 to that, but it does depend on the bikes being visually different or you'll be susceptible to the equivalent of "But you've already got one pair of blue sling-backs".

I have an old "racer" which has little beyond sentimental value so it is easily discounted. Then a 20 year old MTB, with a basic steel frame, no suspension, mudguards and rack and serves as a great clunker. Then there's the hard tail off-road bike, which I "need" for riding round the farm and, of course, the road bike.

As I have (yesterday) completely the CTW payments on my last bike, I'm wondering how to sneak a Sirrus in to the mix but I think the weather will have to clear a bit first, as I haven't done a ride of more than a dozen miles since mid-December.
