I like Skol

A Minging Manc...
What about 4 spare tubes and tools? I can't see a 2l bag slowing anyone down over 100 miles, never noticed mine over 60, and I'd be happily pushing for closer to 5 hours without a stop if the the others here were up for that.
Bring 4 spare tubes if you want, its no problem. Personally I will be bringing 1 and a puncture repair kit. I am sure as a group we will be happy to lend each other a tube if we do puncture our own spares. Of course we may suffer a 'tack' incident like the TDF and all be begging for one of your 4 but as long as each rider brings at least one spare tube I am sure we will be fine. The guy that doesn't bring any 'to save weight' and then gets a puncture is not going to be popular!

I will have 3 (2 new and 1 that's been patched). Don't have any spare chain links though, or a quick link! Hopefully not a problem.

Luckily I am running Tiagra 9spd, so I might have to be super nice to you incase of incident! lol

I thought I had one, but then on inspection it turned out to be a SRAM one for my fixed!

BTW I will be riding to the start from the City Centre, probably Oxford Road way (little traffic at that time of morning and nice and direct) if anyone is heading in the same direction!

Still doing shopping with family, hoping decathlon isn't shut by the time u get there.

Not at friends till 8pm so can see it being a late night do not much sleep

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Question: What will be do with the bikes while inside a cafe? I don't plan to lug a lock around (I don't own one anyway) and I am sure no-one else wants to. One person stand guard and someone else order for them?

I've got a cable lock that's permanently on the bike that'll suit.

Bike cleaned / prepped and ready. See you all at 7am tomorrow.

Just a reminder to those riding out, it will be dark or dull at 6:30 so a couple of backup lights might be wise. I am borrowing a couple of decathlon flashers off my son. TBH just bought them 2 for 15 front rear usb rechargeable v100 so I shall test them first

My tip for those that haven't done 100 miles before and nutrition.

Bring something relatively savoury for a break from the sugary stuff - peanut butter sandwich will do, or a banana if you want something with a bit of a neutered sugar buzz.

Malt loaf good:thumbsup:

Pork pie better:laugh:

I'll be on 2 x 750 ml energy powered drinks. Will take a banana and a couple of sweeties probably. I'm usually fine if it's flat and the temperature isn't too hot.

I think some bullies are determined to cause a fight here while others are just itching to take offense. It's a pleasure ride with a hint of speed thrown in. It IS NOT a club run or a chaingang. Ride what you like and wear what you like! Personally I will probably wear baggy shorts and MTB SPD shoes while riding my skinny road bike which would probably be enough to get me arrested by the roadie fashion Nazis. Am I bothered? On the other hand I might turn up on my hybrid with full panniers and mudguards and give some of the Lycra clad weekend warriors with all the gear but no idea a bloody nose

Fossy, I look forward to this cafe stop:hungry:

The less we mention Winnats the better. :hide::ph34r:

Cafe and locks question:

The cafe is situated on the marina bank-there's a 6 foot odd veranda that runs around the front of the cafe and some tables and chairs etc. If it's relatively quiet the bikes will be in full view.

This might seem odd but the marina might be pretty quiet - no one on the 100 mile ride wil be stopping there apart from us.

I think it's always safer to bring a lock but we won't all need them.

Ah, so I don't want to bring tacks?
