Well, now that you've met -- not just some lovely CC'ers but some lovely CC'ers who happen to also be lovely FNRttC peeps -- I hope you'll come out on a Friday Night Ride to the Coast next year!
+1 to that.

I enjoyed today despite the freezing cold start, although the route seemed a bit uphillier than I remember it! Good to meet you @User21629 and to see you enjoying your bike (nice photos). Nice to meet @Salty seadog too (no, I'm not called Tanya!). Where was @ozboz I wonder, or did I do that thing of riding with someone for hours and never finding out who they are? I got very chilled at the fish and chip stop on the beach, and have had trouble getting warm since I got home, but I think I've discovered the reason why I might have struggled a bit on this ride, and some others last week - I feel a cold coming on with a vengeance and I can't stop sneezing .

Sorry to say we missed it , yesterday morning i had to take Ms ozboz to the NHS Walk in at Teddington, a wound on her knee had turned nasty and very swollen so it had to be tended to properly , so no cycling for her for a week maybe . I hope you all enjoyed the ride anyway ,

We did, and hope to see you both another time - the commercial vehicle or motorcycle run in the spring perhaps? GWS to Mrs ozboz.
Heres a pic of it ,
That sounds good in the Spring !

Well another successful year of following the old crocks down to Brighton. First off, i'll apologise on behalf of myself and @mark st1 for zooming off just outside of Croydon. Our plan was to cycle down and back home again so we wanted to get a wiggle on due to the impending rain that was forecast for the return journey.

A cuppa in Crawley at the scout hut and we bumped into @rb58 , he said you good peeps were about 20 minutes back. So instead of standing round getting cold again we decided to get on our way.

We got to Brighton seafront a few minutes after noon. Had Fish and Chips at the normal place beside the Big Wheel.. except the Big Wheel has morphed into a Pizza Parlour.

We were back on the road 40 minutes later, climbing up through Brighton and up to the Devils Dyke. Descending of which never disappoints. The rolling hills to Handcross making sure we worked off the fish and chips.
Through Pease Pottage and Crawley we were still seeing vintage vehicles making their way to Brighton. Bringing up the rear was the famed coal scuttle truck.

On the A23 just after Gatwick we started to get the first drops of rain, nothing to really bother us, but just outside of Purley, the heavens opened and the heavy rain hit quite hard, and jeez it was cold. Wet, cold and dark for the last hour of riding... not the nicest of conditions to finish such a great ride.
It didn't really dampen the day's riding though.

We got back to mine a smidge after 5pm to nice warm cup's of tea from Mrs Ian. We dried off Mark's bike before I sent him on his way to drive back home. Thank's for the great company today Mark.

It's always lovely to see a good few CC peeps at Croydon. Old faces and new. And @User21629 , nice to see you joining the ride. I hope you enjoyed.

So scores on the doors. 107 miles for the round trip. November's Imperial Century challenge ride in the bag.
I feel being famous  That's what happens to me always and everywhere - people know my name and things about me. And I have no clue who is that guy who talks to me. this also used to happen at work with mid shift and night shift  and it seems happening here as well

Thank you people. Really thank you.
Tanya, it was great to meet you too. I felt the other way about the climb into Brighton, I thought it wasn't as bad as I expected. Maybe my brain just blocked the memory.
It was good to put some faces to names, easy with @Tim Hall from the Avatar and I suppose @User is not too far adrift. @topcat1 @User10571 @slowmotion @ianrauk, It was good to make your acquaintance and hope to ride with you again. Any Forumers I forgot was only 'cos I've got a crap memory.

Marvelous day out.

We pushed on ahead of the main peloton, as hanging about was chilly. Saw @topcat1 whiz down Clayton Hill and spotted @User10571 earlier. Somehow overtook TC on 3 lanes of A23 slipstreaming a 1904 Darracq; TC passed us again entering Brighton.

Sadly could not hang around to meet up rest of peeps as dark clouds loomed. Arrived to a toasty and welcome home for my chilled toes around 16.15. Ride home was a lot less fun than riding south.

No Ordinaries spotted but did chat to the 2 fellows riding a 1919 tandem with a n extremely dodgy rear wheel and deflating tyre. Apparently it was owned by a N. Chamberlain in the 1940's and only 2 other s exist. Did not catch name of manufacturer.

Caught sight of your blue star as I was bimbling about on the front waiting for Adrian, TMN et al to arrive. The tandem was a Royal Enfield - I had a chat with the stoker when I saw them at Three Bridges station.

Spotted 3 of the blighters taking a breather somewhere, can't remember where, may have been Burgess Hill.
What do you call a group of Ordinary riders anyway? 'A big Wheel Of'?

It was where we got stuck behind the coach through that long decent if that helps ?

4.30 alarm call wasn't my favourite however a good day out cold then warmed up then a windy return that turned to some shizzle rain :rain:. my third attempt at that ride the last 2 being biblical rain. Some amazing looking cars some frightening looking contraptions. The Harrods stop looked interesting the brass bands were cool. The geezer commentating from the little guy in Crawley really created an electric atmosphere :tired: fish and chips was most welcome. Return leg was hard on my body and the rain was really unwelcome. Snotty nose and headache are setting in now getting back to @ianrauk's having my bike dried for me a fresh set of dry clothes and a cracking cuppa from his good lady then the slog back round the M25 home :banghead: hot bath was worth the wait. Note to self though Chamois cream must never be forgotten.

Strava has me down for 109.3 miles ? I think 109 of them was wheelsucking the tattooed messiah (many thanks for that )
