There's so much climbing to come I'm not sure Roglic's win really tells us much. It's the first proper mountain stage when everyone is fresh.

That was a great interview!

But I suspect he's only telling half-truths ... the plan was clear, and he was clearly up for it. Or maybe they're all telepathic??

albeit one with a peculiarly very steep section, which doesn't suit soe of the more "tempo" climbers. It does tell us Roglic is in good shape. he does need to stay upright though.

I like his interviews. Sometimes it seems he's just trotting out standard answers "Ah, we will see, huh?".

But then he drops in a bit of dry humour. "Well, nobody asked me. And if they did, I would not say".

I'm thinking recent editions have had a LOT of very steep climbs, but admittedly I haven't looked at the profiles individually.

Chapeau Pavel Bittner ! First world tour win and did it with a great finish to beat Van Aert into second

Van Aert made a right hash of that finish, he lunged twice, it was if he saw a different finish line
