Invaluable to have in your bag if the chain breaks, though.Like, er this sort of thing, then? The thing that you don't need to use so often if you have... quick links.

BTW, I've never had a problem opening a quick link with standard pliers.

When you meet the awkward one, you will understand. It's just me, then, that finds a specialist tool for opening links which are ostensibly designed to be opened without specialist tools annoying?
I dunno about KMC, but if an SRAM link doesn't open, the correct procedure is to stop swearing, walk around the room once or twice, take a swig of beer or tea and then do it again calmly. It's usually just because you've forgotten the correct action and have started to wrestle with it.When you meet the awkward one, you will understand.
( The link, that is)
I believe that the SRAM link is held together by a sharp edge, which is damaged when you pop it off and that SRAM say they should only be used once. I know they are easier than KMC links which are reusable.
I'm surprised nobody is marketing the bent piece of wire that holds the chain together after you have removed the friggin 'magic link', I already have the Elastoplast.
With arthritic and slightly deformed fingers the chain link pliers have been an absolute godsend. My next investment will be one of those tools for fitting and tightening cable ties.
Fourth Hand Tool.... yup have one of those too![]()
