Does this also work for closing the things? Not wanting to cart some pliers on every journey I use a bent-over spoke with two U bends on either side.
Helps if you can't get the thing open by hand.

There is another model for closing the link, but a bit of weight on the cranks with the bike braked has never failed yet. BTW, some KMC links open easily with your fingers, and some identical ones don't. It really isn't just down to technique and skill. I have a pair of KMC remover pliers.Does this also work for closing the things?

Expletive deleted.....We buy bikes costing £00's and there's a debate about an £8 tool which totally removes all the hassle of splitting a quick link, and keeps your hands clean. Fine, if your chain undoes with minimal effort, but in all other cases use the tools for the job and enjoy the application of the tool for the job. I bought one recently and am kicking myself over the grief not having one has given me over the past 5 years. To make the job easier it's a bit of a no brainer for £8.00.

If they make it, people will buy itIt's just me, then, that finds a specialist tool for opening links which are ostensibly designed to be opened without specialist tools annoying?
I think there's some kind of intrinsic pleasure derived from using an extremely specific tool that just does one job really well.
