What's the provenance of the turkey?
Fresh, frozen, free range, organic?
Came from an naturally-incubated ovoid shell.

Guaranteed 100% avian.

Apart from the packaging.

For anyone who's a bit snobby about Aldi, this has just dropped through my letterbox, there's some tempting looking stuff in there.

No sniffiness from me.

For the last few years I've done all my Christmas food shopping there at 8am on Dec 22 (December pay day, maybe 10am if it were Sunday).

However, as I said, we had a Lidl open up round the corner yesterday, so they may get the gig this year.

I suppose that when the CEO left to run as a Tory candidate we should have become aware that JL is highly reactionary.

So reactionary that all the staff are 'partners' and own the store and Waitrose. Everyone from the Chief Exec down to shelf stackers get the same % bonus each year. You'd have to go a long way to find another organisation that treats its employees in such an even handed manner. Doesn't sound like Sports Direct does it?

Must be a generational thing, but adverts bore the pants off me!

It's a bit more complicated than that...

I have bought one thing from John Lewis in the last 10 years, and it wasn't for Christmas. We make a deal of their adverts, but who actually shops there?
We grudgingly shop at JL purely for their extended guarantees, think their customer service is pretty poor
Advised by their product expert our Miele washing machine came with a 10 year guarantee (turned out to be 5), no worries though, it's still going strong  not delivered when promised (their fault).
Tumble dryer for our tenant, numerous emails, calls and 3 weeks to get it (we did get a free extended guarantee worth £95 and a £50 money back for what was agreed to be "appalling service")
Ordered an outfit for a wedding, went to collection point, not there  off to Debenahms.
If we know what we want, mostly electrical we go to JL, but have stood being ignored recently and gone elsewhere to buy, an iPod, a laptop and a TV.
Trump jnr shops there when he's in town. A retired colleague works for Trumpton and has to drive jnr and wife to JL and carry their bags, dressed in a kilt
