I'm at the gym this afternoon. If you don't hear from me, you know what's happened.

Just one thing, didn't the guy in the OP just die of boredom? Golf isn't exactly exciting.

I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be the same person without all the exercise that cycling has given me over several decades. Without it, I'd be someone else. So I guess, technically the OP has a point, and exercise is really bad for the person that I would have been without it... errr, if you get my point .

My ex boss had a stroke in her mid 40s, slim, healthy eater, no family history, runner, recreational cyclist, occasional social smoker but no family history of CVD!! No specific causal factors identified other than stress although she is one of the calmest and in control people I know at least in a work environment ..Bit of a headache, collapsed, a month in hospital

I understand that she's just starting back at work part time after a year off

yeah it is bad for you.

I got cramp as I got out of the pool on friday morning and the muscles behind my knee are very very sore. Had I been a lazy slob i wouldn't have hurt myself ;)

nevermind that my cholesterol level, blood pressure , weight resating heart rate , recovery rate have all changed for the better all due to cycling to work.

I think with all my cycling induced injuries...it could be a toss up for me...although I am rather lighter than I used to be (but that could also be down to eating and drinking less  )

It is a bit of an odd thing, exercise will not stop you dying but may just delay the when a bit, or make the time you have much better.

In my younger days I did not do much exercise but now I feel I really need it to control a bad back and bad knees. Really if I don't have a bike ride a couple of long walks or swim and two pilates classes per week I am a bit of a state and end up with aches and pains.

It strikes me as odd how may people seem to accept problems and limitations they often bring on themselves by laziness.

Exercise is good for a better quality of life in old age. Seen too many old folk that never exercised and their health is poor compared to others that have been active.
