Drove by somene pushing their bike earlier, guilt hit me and i turned back to offer a lift as road to Kincardine has no path and the rain started.....and got my offer rejected! Pushing a one wheeled bike on a main road in the rain > lift by Louch .bloody cyclists...,

I would have done the same tbh

So did the Galston run this morning, just a there and back job from the Mearns, 30 miles all in. Great wee road is the A719, recalled your Loudon Castle sign sheltering antics as I rode past, and peched back up past it on way back. Didn't even get my stride broken by the sneaky wee 10% er at Waterside, which for a 2 month cycling newbie I was chuffed at. Weather was great, dry chilly and not too windy, just waiting for the predicted snowy Armageddon to hit as per those nice BBC forecasts.

That was a good wee run, you sound as if you are well and truly hooked!
You can extend that one a bit by continuing along to Darvel, about six miles, and then heading north over the back roads to Eaglesham and then on to the Mearns from there - it would probably take you from the 30 miles up to 40 or so. The back roads are reasonable in terms of surface, and wonderful in terms of traffic; I did it on Sunday past and I didn't meet more than three cars from Darvel up to Jackton. The only thing I'd mention is that if you enjoyed the 10% at Waterside, you'll love the 17% when you cut off from Darvel:thumbsup:

I had to take the bus:cursing: to work yesterday to bring the wheel of my road bike into the LBS for spoke replacement and truing.

This morning I was back on the bike, in the rain, into a sizable headwind. Still infinitely more enjoyable!^_^

It was pretty breezy! Almost came to a complete stop a few times, but I still prefer a headwind to a crosswind, if it's that strong and gusty.
Supposedly we had gusts of 39 mph near Edinburgh airport during my commuting hour, and gusts of 51 mph  near Penicuik ...
Took about 10 minutes longer than yesterday to get to work

You're probably right about the hooked bit, was out and about today despite forecasts for rain and winds and did just under 30. A77 down to Fenwick is fun in a near 40 mph headwind I have to say, however made up for it on the way back. Took some inspiration from your wee Stewarton soirée again, and did Fenwick to Kilmaurs to Stewarton, then back up the B769 with wind at my back. I love that road, just undulating enough to be challenging, great surface, quiet for traffic. Can't beat finishing off a road with a huge grin on your face.

Had a wee look at the Darvel. Jackton route, was a bit concerned about getting lost on the back roads in crap weather, but it will be done at some point, if not the whole Darvel, Newmilns, Strathaven, EK, Eaglesham thing.
