+5C at 7am felt very warm, as I was used to temperatures only just reaching + degrees by lunchtime when it was sunny
No trace of ice, not even at +200m near work
Will attempt to put the ice tyres on tonight  and get them bedded in in time for the weekend ...

Ice tyres successfully installed :wahhey:, bike cleaned & moving parts given some tlc :wub:aka Green Oil. Those new Marathon tyres aren't half stiff and difficult to get onto the wheels :training:  ... had to ask HJ for help, he's got much stronger thumbs .
Just as well I got the new tyres, the old rear (Marathon) tyre was worn smooth , with the innards just about starting to appear through in some places:thumbsdown::blush:.

I'll probably put the old front tyre on the prize bike, to replace the crappy 'original' one ... less worry about punctures then, but it'll mean another new pair for the tank once the threat of ice is gone . I can't really complain though, having calculated the amount of £££ I have been saving in bus fares .

Try to pick a smooth (ish) route for the first 40 km or so, least you lose some studs.
Have you got spare ones T?

I'll just carry on commuting - which is all on tarmac and as smooth as it gets around Edinburgh ... I'm fully intending to bed them in properly as instructed, some other good advice I got is not to drag the bike wheels along the ground when turning it around for parking or riding off (which apparently is one of the best ways of dislodging studs). They might get to see some 'action' tomorrow if there are clear skies overnight :cold:, but the forecast seems to have gone all cloudy again ...

No spare studs yet, but I'm intending to follow the advice on here and e-mail Schwalbe...

Do email, tell them you did embed as per instruction but still lost a few. Add your address, they will send about 20/30 by return post, truly I did only need about 6, never lost anymore since last winter.

@Louch's new 'toy' !!! :hyper:

You wouldn't want to get it wet or mucky, would you ? :headshake:

Toestraps too !

Nice looking machine, Louch ! :bravo: Does it go as fast as it looks ? You do realise that the handle bars will soon get out of shape, as everyone knows that red is faster than white, so there will be all sorts of strains going on around the bar-tape !

@Col5632 'like' the new jacket , but not the careless drivers :headshake:
Hope the return journey was better!

My ice tyres have now completed just over 30km of bedding in, so far so good ... they seem to be quite slippy on metal surfaces/drain covers compared with ordinary tyres, but stick like glue on everything else - quite 'good exercise', shall we say
The tiny bit of black ice near work was nae problem
