It was 4 weeks ago, Saturday lunchtime, no sign of any remaining ice. Came round a corner to a dip on the moor road, and there was a puddle where a ditch had overflowed. But it wasn't a puddle, it was wet ice.

@Brandane I'm on 10 hours shifts till the 31st, so will pick up Pandora (hehe) after the new year, if it's not snowing that is.

That is a cracking bike Pat! I was looking at one of them last year and loved it. Was very tempted at the time, and if it had been reduced to the price you got yours at, I may well have bought it. The colour looks great too. I love the Croix de Fer (been a naughty boy and used it a few times before Santa had the chance to deliver it). Managed a 40 miler on it last week.
When I was out a walk this afternoon I met a guy called Jack Luke who has landed a job with Bikeradar. His go to bike is a Croix de Fer. He loves it.

Yes, fairlie moor, on the dalry side. just before the "windmill road". Wasn't going fast, had stopped about 20 yards earlier for something. Came round bend, hit ice, went down.

Somehow managed to cycle home, couldn't get off the bike when I got there.

A&E, suspected hip fracture, 2 nights NHS b&b. Fortunately it wasn't broken.

Physio says it's a "six week injury"

You don't say!
My present to myself has the same name as yours, just better gearing, flat bars, and of course it's two sizes smaller
Told the shop to keep it till after the new year, because I don't have a day off to pick it up.

Cracking bike at a great price, Pat. That 22/32 lowest gear should make vertical climbs a doddle!

Did you all have a good time?
I rode to my friend - first passing by Michelle to deliver some hand made chocolate truffles :becool:
Lots was eaten: still, I could scoff another chocolate or two
Maybe it's my imagination, but when there are no buses cars go faster, also the roads are full of taxis zooming up and down.

I suspect @Col5632's dream bike features special items like permanent 'downward inclines', special 'wind-at-your-back' device, added 'No Darling, it didn't cost much' feature and 'get extra fit without any effort' drivetrain.

There are plenty sitting around in garage/ sheds all over the country, so lots of choice !

Quick, @Fubar, take a screenshot over at MCL, we are leading the world-wide CC team just now :becool:, not sure how long it'll last...
The mega milers must all be on holiday or ice-bound :okay:
