Who knew that leaving a bike outside on the shore of Berneray where the wind and rain had free access to it could do damage?
Could only happen to you!
My ice bike's hubs are still ok after 4 winters, just saying like ...
Good luck in getting it fixed!

In Stornoway tonight? I'd offer you a bed but afraid I'll be out until late tonight and working tomorrow night

I would recommend Alistair Glover @ Bespoke Bicycle repairs. He does a mobile service and he's a mate of mine 07876 570932 (mention Ian Gilbert) - I haven't seen his van around recently so he may be on holiday? There is also a shop at the back of the Royal Hotel, but I don't use him much other than buying the odd inner tube/brake cable when needed and have heard mixed reports on repairs/service.

Failing that message me and I'll see if I can sort something out from my spares on Saturday.

@Edwardoka Message from Al Glover @ Bespoke Bicycle Repairs

Hi Ian, nice one thanks for passing on my details. should be able to get him sorted if he gets in touch. If you are in contact with him at all, could you mention I can come out to him to save him the bother of trying to get to town?

Anyone in this forum from around the Ayrshire way, live in Kilmarnock and looking for some new cycling routes to try out as I'm sick of doing the same routes all the time.

I live in Irvine and just got my first bike. Have you tried the Sustrans cycle route from Kilmarnock to Irvine Follow it towards Kilwinning and its signposted to eglinton park and round through girdle toll then back to springside to rejoin the cycle route again.

I blame @ShooglyDougie for inducting me into the "aim at potholes" school of thought. It seems to be running ok after I gave it some attention in a bus shelter!

Ferry back to mainland first thing tomorrow, but I insist that CC Ecosse's 2017 tour MUST be the Hebridean Way cc @Fubar

Utterly stunning. Very jealous of @wicker man (apart from the midges). Thanks again for your help!

@Pat "5mph" - it's not the hills you should worry about in the Hebrides :headshake: - it's the wind ...
Not bothered about the wind, I'll just practice my ... aero position

Cool, I'll look your route up on strava, it's probably peppered with mega hills and places I can't pronounce

Someone should arrange an ayrshire mainland ride , an area I haven't touched And would like to know more of
It won't be me; because.....
1. It WILL turn out to be wet and windy that day.
2. Work schedule unpredictable, so all my longer rides are last minute weather dependent efforts.
3. CBA'd.
This is a good book if you want to explore the more civilised side of our country :okay::
