Watching "Railway Walks with Julia Bradbury" and she is walking the route from Callander to Killin, Day 2 of our CC Ecosse Tour to Inverness - that was an interesting day!
I'm in Largs. Obviously I don't know what your "same routes all the time" are, but I've found some good cycling down KIlmarnock direction. You've got the path heading west through Springside to Irvine. From Irvine you've got routes south to Ayr, or north to Ardrossan and Largs. You've also got a choice of minor roads north to Kilmaurs, Stewarton, Auchentiber, then back down towards Kilwinning. South west you've got the road to Dundonald, and loads of roads east of Ayr. North east you've got the old A77 with the cycle path running beside it and that takes you to Glasgow, or Eaglesham. South east you've got Galston to Sorn, from there you can go to Muirkirk and up to Strathaven, over to Eaglesham...... Jump on a train and go to Dumfries if you get tired of all that; there's some great cycling around the Solway.Anyone in this forum from around the Ayrshire way, live in Kilmarnock and looking for some new cycling routes to try out as I'm sick of doing the same routes all the time.

If you ever need company to cycle around Arran, we are always keen on that
Ah good old Lochan na Lairige. I once got caught up there in dreadful weather, had to shelter under the dam for the worst to pass. Need to go back at some point!I cycled the north side of Loch Tay last Sunday, much less lumpy! Ben Lawers however was quite lumpy indeed...
Yesterday shortly after setting forth from Leverburgh over the back road, I discovered that my front hub was dying. Making a very terminal sounding grinding, crackling noise. (No, @Pat "5mph", not the same hub as last year.)
Who knew that leaving a bike outside on the shore of Berneray where the wind and rain had free access to it could do damage?
It never rains but it pours...
Today's goal, if the hub lasts, is to get to Stornoway and hope the bike shop can fix it. Maybe @wicker man can put in a good word for me?![]()
I am also considering going down Saturday, will depend on weatherGoing over on Saturday...
