St Andrew's Hospice Sportive - a bit pricey but a good cause and a pedal up the Crow Road!

The 80 miler goes by ma bit and the roads I go out to play on. Bugger paying for the pleasure...

In all seriousness, a fantastic cause and I think I would give the 50 a go.

Could someone please give me a brief summary of doing the 3 ferries ride. IDE on difficulty, places to stop and eat, and any other information. Asking for someone I know who is thinking of doing it, but I haven't been

Gourock-Dunoon ferry, ride north for a couple of flat miles, turn west onto a fantastic road, steady long climb for a while, long descent, very steep climb (think start of Lecht steepness), then descend onto a fairly flat road with one steady climb, descent to Colintraive for the world's most over-provisioned ferry service to Rhubadach on Bute, then largely flat road towards Rothesay. No food stops until very near the end on Bute so food probably needs to be carried.

Also, parking is a faff as getting between Wemyss Bay and Gourock involves riding along a crap, busy main road.

Strava. (Ignore the bits between Largs and Wemyss Bay which was me getting to/from the start).
What Ed says, but it is possible to cut out chunks of the main road by diverting through Ardgowan estate at the entrance to Inverkip Marina.
The problem just now (or maybe it's not a problem as it avoids the A78 issue) is that Wemyss Bay ferry terminal is closed for repairs, so the ferry to/from Rothesay is going to Gourock (but not the same place as the Dunoon ferry goes from; that is operated by Western ferries).
For info on the Rothesay ferry, see CalMac website. Wemyss Bay is allegedly re-opening in April, but don't hold your breath....
