Surely as good a time as any for a pb effort using the road rather than the bumpy paths

Took my work laptop home Wednesday to do my year end form, after I got stuck in traffic on way home I then worked from home Thursday until laptop died, when I seen at 11pm that bridge was closing., drove into work to get my charger and worked from home Friday too. May be approach I take rest of the year as best possible. All the extra traffic wont be good for Kincardine bridge.

Two things about the bridge - I've used it regularly for years and it was clear it was deteriorating. The gentle "thump thump" as the tyres crossed the gaps between road sections has increased to "ker-bang ker-bang". Huge patches and supporting struts have been welded in places and the footpath on the West side is almost permanently closed to allow works to be completed. I reckon it's jiggered and five years we'll be reading stories about serious faults constituting a major scandal.

Secondly, don't bet on the other bridge being open in a year. I've heard the contractors have all signed 18 month extensions to their contracts as there are problems afoot.

But ... but the SNP have promised that it will open 'on time and on budget' so many times, surely it has to ?

Decent track record of that so far, even managed to tame the awful labour trams project from going even further out of control.
Widely credited to Edinburgh Council Chief Exec Dame Sue Bruce, nothing to do with the SNP Government. The single Scottish police force, on the other hand, is the work of the SNP Government and them alone.

Lovely day for a bike ride or two :-)
:sun: and quite warm in any sheltered spots, not too windy, only one short shower ... the Water of Leith was VERY close to being level with the path around Murrayfield, and a raging torrent further upstream in Colinton Dell and further up. Great day for a Belles outing :girl:, followed by lunch, and then another quick (and slightly extended) shopping trolley ride, just because it was sunny and sooo nice to be outside after the last couple of days .

Hope you all got out for a bit, too :hello:

Managed out for a wee pedal today. Train to Howwood, then cycled to Glasgow for a train home again. A nice flat, easy 25 miles with no rain and only tail winds! Passing the SECC I decided to use their facilities. Don't know if @Pat "5mph" was working today or not, but she would have been in her element at the Vegfest which was on today . I was tempted to ask where the burger van had gone......

I was inside the Vegfest making Soya lattes
The organizers forbid any non vegan product to enter the exhibition hall.
Dialog over the in house walkie talkie with the colleague that manned the station yesterday when I was off:
Pat to A
Go ahead Pat
A, answer your phone!
A: can't. it's not on me.
Pat to A, do we have the stuff in the department, you know the stuff for us?
A: mumble mumble, organizers ...
Me: ok, see you later.
Me: go in the kitchen, fill a flask, hide it under various items on my trolley.
Into the vegan zone: hi guys, guess what I've got?
Colleagues: milk!!! :hyper:

No cycling at all for me from now until New Year however a wee rant, seeing a few bikes appearing on trains on the Fife circle during the peak times. I know that some may think they have the right but can`t help thinking its bloody selfish at the present time. Trains are bursting and cramped as it is !!
